      Hi All,

Its a great thread and really liked it!! We are Canadian Residents and presently in the Middle East. We got our Aus PR and decided to land Adelaide permanently during first week of December. Our daughter in class 9 and son in class 5. We are looking for an area nearer ( max 20 kms away) to CBD. Some of our friends suggests Norwood and Magill Area have good high schools and the suburb is also close to CBD. Please comment on the above suburbs please.... Any idea about the present rentals running for a 3 bed house in the area?

      Thanks in advance...

Hi PIA, just been reading all about Port Noarlunga - It sounds fab! I believe the ony high school there that isnt private is Christies High. Can anyone give an opinion about it as I have heard somewhere that it wasnt very good and if that was the case it would effect our decision to move there.
      Thanks Jane

Hi Im trying to research n east Adelaide areas to live and high schools i was told a few people from this forum lived in the golden grove area and was advised to post and ask about Golden grove high school? I love the sound of the area (my OHs favorite!) and its close to my OHs work but Ive heard a few bad stories about the school (a stabbing in 2009?) I want to know if this was a isolated incident? or is the school a no no? I would prefer the blunt truth rather than not know plz help!
I was also looking at charles campbell high and banksia park international has anyone any preferences?
      thank you

      Hi
I know people that go to all three schools - Golden Grove has a great rep, and very good facilities as it shares with two private schools (Gleeson and Pedare). I know someone in Year 11 at Banksia Park - she speaks very highly of the school too and is doing very well, so going from that, can't be too much wrong with it. Son's best friends are all at Charles Campbell (Year 9), most on the performing arts specialist program there, and are very happy with it too. So any of those would be good, depending on where you end up living. Modbury is another local state high school that has a good reputation.
Lots of schools have occasional incidents, and I always think how they deal with them is what shows the true colours of the school. For instance, Brighton school had a kid put a home-made bomb in a bin there a year or two ago, and that's a good school! Better for a school to have dealt with a problem successfully than for the problem to have not happened yet, and the school have no experience of such things!

      Question

      Thx Diane
Its sooo not easy knowing what and where to send them!? my son has just left school here but will be going back when we get there and my daughter has just started yr 8 so will start high school at the end of jan when we get there
I totally agree with what you say about how a school deals with a problem that counts! it was just very off putting when u read it over the internet from the local paper (shocked me a little) we were led to believe Australia has a very low crime rate so i wasn't expecting it tbh but Its definitely better to know than not! :v_SPIN:
we are very lucky at the moment as the school they go to is VERY good (one of the best in the north west uk) with a massive waiting list and its becoming very hard to take my D out without knowing what the schools are like where we are going as there education isnt everything but its a big part but i do also think life experiences is equally as important

p.s still egerly waiting your news blog entry!
