Hi
Shopping has been my full time 'job' since we arrived- we have bought almost everything new here. One point that is worth knowing, places such as The Good Guys and Radio Rentals- they are on Lisa's list- give good discounts for cash. when i say 'cash' it doesnt mean you have to have wads of $ in your handbag, simply a debit card will do. We have bought most of our electrical items form The Good guys. They have given us really good discounts - never pay what the ticket price says. Eg ticket price for Electrolux washing machine $899- ask them what the cash price is and i got mine for $720 it really is the norm here.( Obviuosly department stores dont do this)
Any other tips on shopping please feel free to ask, im out there bagging a bargain most days !!
Toni

Have been reading on another site and someone recommended trying foodland for groceries - We are currently in Morphett Vale but are shortly moving to Seaford Rise, can someone tell me where the nearest Foodland is - any opinions of it?

I must be down under...
I found www.expatshopping.coop (http://www.expatshopping.coop) and found myself getting emotional at the thought of Co-op Nuts and Raisin selection (for Xmas, an eternal standby).
I wouldn't mind but I am allergic to nuts!

Hi Jellybean
You can definitely get Robinsons Lemon Barley Water in Coles at Reynella. There is a mini "English" section there as I've previously posted. Tragically you cannot get Bisto gravy granules here. Gravox is foul I'm afraid. You could try Greens Gravy Granules which is also foul but not quite as foul as Gravox!:p

Hi Lisa,
Have found your shopping links really helpful.
(Just don't tell the Hubby):D
Thanks

Hi
Gravy - there was one called Sooooo, it came in Beef or Chicken and was made by Bisto, but it seems to have disappeared - Greens Granules - mixed with boiling water - seems to be the best available.
Some Foodlands also stock Paxo S & O Stuffing, Yorkshire Pudding mix, Batchelors Mushy Peas, Aunt Bessies Frozen Yorkshires, Mr Kippling Cakes and various other oddities from time to time. :cute:

I found Oxo stock cubes at Wollies in the Hub, and there's a Deli in Flagstaff which sells Bisto Gravy (very expensive though!!), and other English foods like penguin bars (but Tim Tams are better!), Revels, Walnut Whips etc etc but check the sell-by dates! And I think you can also make requests for new stock etc.
Hope this helps!

I'm not doing too well on the clothes front but I made some great discoveries in Coles - essentials in our house that have certainly helped us feel at home...
Green & Blacks (plain and maya gold... yay!!!)
Clipper fair trade teabags (we dont care about the cost, its essential!!!!!!!!!)
While I have discovered it is actually possible to get pork sausages in Coles, has anyone found any REALLY good pork sausages anywhere? Is there such a thing as an English butchers???! Surely there must be something with all the English people moving to Adelaide these days???!

Woolworths "English Style" pork sausages aren't too bad - but then most things taste better now that I've found Bisto gravy...!!!:biglaugh:

The best pork sausages that I have had are from the chicken shop in Seaford shopping centre and are actually chicken sausages, they taste like good old pork sausagages, infact but for the fact that I bought them so knew what was in them, I would have sworn they were pork!!
