Hi

We are also going on the 136 visa. Our occupations are not modl although are skilled. We are both teachers. I teach the big kids and hubbie teaches the little ones. We have 2 daughters one aged 13 and one aged 10.

We are getting 5 points from investing. We had our medicals and police checks done before Christmas as requested and on Friday night we had a phone call to say pay your money.

My husband is handing in his notice tomorrow and we should be leaving about 8th May.

I am terrified, in a very very good way

:D Hi Andy & Lindsey welcome to the site.
We to are on the 136 visa skilled in demand which is great and it means you are permanent residents from day one but I was told it takes just that bit longer for the process to work but worth it in the end.
Do you need to pay the $100000 bond as well as us good luck.

Hi and welcome

We have had our visas for about 18 months and after some serious dithering have now decided to go for it - we are hoping to fly out around July.

I am a teacher and Paul is lift engineer, we have three girls aged 15, 11 and 9. I have found this forum really helpful and friendly, hopefully it will be as useful for you.

Hi Andy & Lindsey'

We have recently joined this site too. Ian and I also have boys aged 5 & 2 (Jay & Samuel) and 6 month old Noah. We are due to have our meds this week and from what I can tell things seem to happen pretty quickly after that. As long as all goes smoothly and we can sell our house we are hoping to be in Australia in the Autumn.

Hi guys

Well again can I say thankyou to everyone for making us feel so welcome! Can anyone tell me - as visa application only went off two weeks ago - Do they confirm receipt my post or email and how long roughly does this take? ( I know its a little of the how long is a piece of string scenario)

Was reading a thread on Adbrits and noted that one person who applied in Sept had visa in December - arrrgh!

No we dont have to pay bond - we are lucky that we have 125 points :D

Hi Andy and Lindsey,

Welcome to the site. I am Jan a Midwife and my husband is Shane an Insurance loss adjuster plus Oliver 13 and Gabby 9.

I have only 110 points so having to apply to SA government for sponcorship. Still awaiting my skills assessment to come through. It is now 8 weeks but we have had Christmas in those 8 weeks. How long did ANMC take to send your skills assessment? Are you both intending to work?

I only qualified September 2005 or I would have had more points for experience. I am hoping it will be easy to find a job both for myself and my husband as doing the sums we will still need a mortgage if we want that house with a pool.

Hi there Grants

We have had our tra since August 2005 - long story but it came back within three weeks. I have a friend who went out to Adelaide (midwife) and part of her job interview was do you know anyone who might want a job! I am intending to work agency probably one to two shifts a week (hours I do here). I have been quoted approx $40 + per hour for agency. Andy is the main applicant and will be working fulltime.

We have done everything on our own - withour agent and found it quite easy so if you need any pointers - do let me know

Hi Donna, really sorry to hear about the house sale, fingers crossed you will get another buyer soon :)

Welcome Andy & Lindsey, we are emigrating on an SIR495 skilled visa, Ashley is self employed as a painter & decorator. I work for Alliance Boots as an Asst Supply Mgr (jobshare) - fancy title but its just supply chain & logistics
We have 2 fab boys Bradley is 10 & Thomas is 6, lots of energy & loads of fun.
We visited Sydney, Brisbane & Gold Coast last yr, wonderful places.

Hoping to be in Adelaide some time soon ideal before Sept 07 but unsure whether to go June or July 07, may be earlier - we are still deciding 8)

We have an agency who have helped us through our application, they have been well worth the money.

What bad news about the house - hopefully you will find another buyer quick. Do you have a worse case scenario plan.
