Have just returned from skills Expo in London and have definitely decided we want to up and move to Adelaide. Like alot of you both myself and husband have never been to Aus but I have a friend who lives in Adelaide and it just looks a brilliant place to live. I have 2 children aged 12 and 9 who are not very keen on the move but I am positive they will love it as they are both very sporty.

I am a midwife and I am hoping to obtain a Temp Business (long stay) Visa 457 as I was advised by recruitment agency I could go to Aus on this Visa as a Midwife and after 3 months I could apply for permanent residency.

Has anybody ever heard of this type of Visa? I was told this could be arranged very quickly if I register as a Midwife in Australia to enable me to practice there. Are ther any other nurses or midwifes on the forum who have made the big move? Look forward to hearing from you

Hi there

I ussed to work for a recruitment agency and they had a part of the company called Nurse Worldwide. They are based in the City - London and are really lovely- speak to Jodie and she will give you loads of info on whats what - they can also try and arrange a job for you out there before you go.

Tell Jodie that Donna from Select said Hi

Good luck with the visas - we are awaiting a response on an SIR visa and hope to hear by Xmas.

Hi
I am new to this website.
My OH & I (plus 2 boys age 10 & 6) are using an agency in Edinburgh, although we are based in the East Midlands! They were friendly & helpful BEFORE any money changed hands! I would recommend them...
Overseas Emigration

We are awaiting our TRA result & will then shortly apply for an SIR495 visa, which is temporary for 3 yrs bound for Adelaide SA - we only get 110 points so this was the best option for us!

Visited Oz but never SA - it does look so very beautiful...

Good luck with the agency! I think whoever you choose, they are all pricey & will offer you a free consultation. Also I have heard that Go Matilda is good too ..

We used Overseas Emigration in Edinburgh (we are in Kent!) too - have found them really helpfull so far even when I didn't understand so much of what they were asking for (just a bit thick then!)

We are using Go Matilda and can recommend them. Our TRA was not the easiest as Greg is a metal polisher and there is no qualifications for it so the whole thing was based on work experience spanning 20 years with most of the companies no longer around. Shaun was a godsend and looked everything through thoroughly and gave feedback at every stage.

He also made the sponsorship seem painless and all form were completed for us to sign.

When it came to the main visa we requested it be submitted online as it is faster and although our agent had not done it before they agreed and it was acknowledged and charged the same day it was lodged!

Hi Donna
Its good to know that you are using OE too.
We are now waiting for SA sponsorship as the result was successful from the TRA :D :D :D , really excited !!!

I have also heard that Go Matilda are very good too & Lisas using them.

Its pricey with an agent but worth the money I think.

I agree about using an agency - Russ is a print finisher but didn't have formal qualifications just a long career history and most the companies he worked for had closed down!! so references were hard. OE were really helpfull and definitely worth the money - there is no way I would have got the references to say so much without their help. I just thought that a couple of thousand vs the rest of our lives was an easy decision. Just hope we get the blooming thing now - it is starting to take over my life!

Hi Donna
This was nearly exactly the same as us. Greg has worked as Metal Polisher for 20 years and there are no qualifications for this in the UK or OZ so TRA was completely work based but most places had closed and he was self employed for the last 4 years. Agent was a godsend and worth every penny :D Am sure you will hear soon.
