View Full Version : Winery Tour for the Laydeez

OK, I've said it so now I'll put it into action. If I can get some numbers together I'll look into organising a tour of the wineries for us ladies (and I use the term loosely...) There's a company called Paramount Tour Services that specialises in this kind of thing so if you can let me know who's definitely interested I will make some enquiries. I think it will probably be best if we plan it for the New Year though, otherwise half of you will back out at the last minute with xmas parties/shopping etc. Let me know girls.:)

Please though can we go at the weekend or during school holidays?
Looking forward to it. If we do it in the New Year I think a new arrival (emmylou) will come on down too...

OK, we're up to about 8 I think, fairly sure I can add a couple more. I'll sound them out at the weekend then start working out dates and prices etc. I'll reckon we all agree it will have to be a weekend, Saturday? I know damn well Richie won't book a day off work so that I can go out on the toot!:biglaugh:
Yeah Saturday is good for me, I'm sure MIL, FIL and OH should be capable of looking after a 5 year old for the day (and probably Sunday as well, as will need another day to recover).
Liz, if there's not that many of us, how about checking out Limo prices as well. I hear they are quite reasonable. Maybe you'd like me to do that hun?
If we are going to do it girls, we could do it in style with our posh frocks on! Ha http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/15/15_1_57.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxuk137YYGB)

Posh frocks and limos - cool!
Don't mind which way I go - bus or limo just so long as I don't have small ones pulling at me all day and I don't have to drive:D
Really lookiong forward to it - if it's after 23rd January, count my Mum in too - she will love it:jiggy:
See you all soon

now then .....
this all sounds very exciting and i would love to come (parties permitting, so will need date as soon as anyone has it, then i can get something in my diary and not book a party!). Guzzler is just buttering me up for his next big weekend away fishing trip, so a day touring around the wineries, almost sounds like an even deal (well almost anyway!). Please count me in too, if there is room and end of January onwards sounds fab - get Xmas and our house move out the way. Limos, buses, posh frocks or just boardies and singlets (can you see I have the ozzie lingo now?) - whatever the dress code, sounds awesome!
Good one Liz ....

I would love to come, not sure there would be a whole lot of point, can't drink at the moment, :arghh: but might tag on and have just a couple.
I was going to offer to drive, but your numbers are too high now, and you probably wouldn't want to clamber in and out of my car in your party frocks!
I will keep an eye out for dates.

Have got to ask the question Foxychick, why can't you drink at the mo? Can't imagine a worse torture than going to a winery and not being able to drink!! Anyway, haven't forgotten about this girls, will be conducting enquiries v soon, honest.

Well if I tell you I won't be drinking for the next 6 months either that would give it away ;)
Yep, we have a little aussie surprise on the way - not the best timing, but getting a bit more excited now.
Hard as it is to visit and not drink, I could have a couple couldn't I? Hate to miss out me! :biglaugh:
Catch up soon

Yo lady dudes
Deb really looking forward to it, so much so she's volunteered me to drive the mini bus if a non drinking driver is required  sure I'll be rewarded in heaven:jiggy:
FoxyChick.......Congratulations!!! You know you can still come with us as shouldn't we all be smelling the bouquet and describing tones of toasted almonds...... Mmmm, maybe we'll get better at it the more drink???
AND
Jo, you couldn't have picked a better day to come to Aus, as its my little boy's 5th birthday on the 22nd December. 2 reasons to celebrate now!! :D
AND
Deb, we might have to take you up on the offer of a minibus driver as I need to get my finger out and see how much a limo cost (but judging by the numbers, its going to be more like a coach)

Hello M'Laydee (think Parker a la Thunderbirds)
Stonking Judi, I like it, I like it alot. :notworthy: I bagsee a seat facing forwards though coz after winery 3 I may not be well. I thought I should tell you this now rather than risk an embarrassing incident later.
No mention of Doritos though so it may not be a goer!!!;)

Just showed Deb the limo post and she's scuttled off to the wardrobe to see if her posh frock is posh enough.....can see a trip to Marion shortly:arghh:if not.
So looks like I could be off the hook though might have been nice to have got a team photo on all your finery, maybe a before and after set :biglaugh: would brighten up my FLICKR page.

Ooh I am panicking now as all my posh togs are in the container (which is probably in the Suez canal) feel a shopping trip may be in order too - dont do heels though especially after a few glasses of the old vino collapso! Getting in and out of a limo in a posf frock, heels and after one or two:goofy:
Cant wait

Hmm, am thinking we definitely need a coach now as the numbers are quite high. What about dates? I'm thinking Saturday 12th Jan or 19th Jan. Don't want to commit to the Saturday after as I think in-laws will be arriving thereabouts. Do either of those dates work for you ladies?

14-11-2007, 11:19 PM
I have a confession to make...
I can't walk in heels and I will definitely spill something if I am wearing a posh frock because that is just how my life is...
So I am afraid that I will do my very very best but it'll probably be trousers and a pair of flip flops because that they way, if I do lose my balance/ fall over I can still blame the shoes!
Is there some kind of support group for the eternally incompetent at basic life skills like walking?
Libby
PS I am still going to go shoppin though!

My names Lindsey and I cant walk in heels before I've had the wine! Not Alcoholics Anonymous but heels anonymous!
Yes - Congratulations Foxychick - We will have a drink for you this time and then afterwards when the little one is born we will go again, then you can drink! Hope you are feeling ok - not too sick/tired/hot!

I must say that i have to confess that i have been partaking in my own vino tasting experience in the comfort of my own home as we have just been inspected by those lovely, adored people from OFSTED. Without the comforting support of my friend Vino, i would have cried ALOT. But OFSTED over and now live is back to relative normality.......

Either of those dates sound great to me Liz.
Let me know if there is anything I can help with...paper cups for in coach wine tasting...paper plates for the doritos...or is that far too lady-like?

Liz I have only just noticed that youn have mentioned dates:err:.
Both dates are fine with me, just let me know when and where and I shall be readily available.
Thanks for doing this, what an inspired idea!:notworthy:

How did I MISS this post !! Anyway, a little like Sarah, with a new house, Xmas I would prefer the latter part of Jan 08, having said that I would like to be included in the no's but Ash working a lot of weekends up to Xmas (doh !) no choice really, on probation & being 'asked' to !! If you know what I mean.
Anyway, once I know a date I can confirm nearer the time.
Great idea BTW.

OK, I will try for either of the dates mentioned and just to make it clear ladies, I will be asking for the FULL AMOUNT up front. No offence intended, but I don't want to book a coach only for 3 of us to show up on the day!

Which region? If it's the Barossa you can count me in - I'll have MIL staying too in December and am sure she'd enjoy it too, so two of us if it's the Barossa (presume if it's McLaren Vale it will be leaving from somewhere too far for us to get to without driving first and after - and that would spoil all the fun of having a tour!
D

Sorry Diane, it's McLaren Vale this time, but if it goes well I promise the next time it will be Barossa.
Diane
21-11-2007, 01:26 AM
Ah well never mind. I did do a cheese and wine tour recently of the Barossa with my folks and can highly recommend that! You pick up a cool bag from the Barossa Cheese and Wine Co in Angaston containing four cheeses, crackers, a cheeseboard and knife and a map with suggested wineries to visit, and which wines to try with which cheeses! I think the McLaren Vale visitors centre does something similar so you might want to consider that for your trip.
have fun anyway, even though it will be without us (sob...sob...)
