Reynella - Adelaide

Can anyone advise me what area in Adelaide Reynella is like ?

Hi

Just to confuse the situation, there is Old Reynella, Reynella and Reynella East. We live in Reynella East.

Reynella we find like Morphett Vale - some great areas, some not so great. But a good central place to be. Houses are generally older and there are few developments in this area as there are not many plots of land available. Reynella is also a large-ish suburb and there are some shops in the area.

Old Reynella has a sweet set of shops along the main road which reminds me of a High Street, unusual for Adelaide. Similar to Reynella in terms of age, it has a slower pace to it. There are a number of restaurants including a Chinese which are highly regarded. Hardy's wineries have a cellar door here which is great for tasting. Houses again are of the older variety but the suburb is established and we like it. There is a street fair for Christmas when a brass band and floats come up the street before moving to the field and lots of stalls are set up. We had a lovely day there last year.

Reynella East is a bit of a gem. Not as popular as Woodcroft, Happy Valley or Aberfoyle, it is bordered by the first two and Old Reynella. It is cheaper than the other two although not by much. Reynella East High School has a very good reputation and the school is in line for extra government funding as it is merging with the primary school (virtually on the same site) to form an R-12 school. There is no land in the suburb for building that I can think of and the area is well kept.

Plenty of shops nearby, and great access to main roads. From our house we can be on the expressway in 3 mins or South Road.

It would depend on the time of day you are travelling.

I have to be at work before 8.15 or else I feel flustered - I start teaching at 8.30. I prefer to be there before 8am and currently get to work at 7.45 when I leave at 7.00. I work east of the city but not much.

Outside of rush hour I can be in the city within half an hour.

There is a park and ride near here and there are train links within ten mins in 2 directions (Hallett Cove and Noarlunga).
