Hi Michael and Jo
Welcome to PIA and as an Arsenal season ticket holder, please let me congratulate Utd on their Premiership. Odd though it sounds, every gooner I know at the Emirates yesterday was on Utd's side and it gave us great pleasure to take Chelsea's title away and hand it to you guys - richly deserved by a team that plays attactive football (and has class and history )just like Arsenal). Apologies to any Chelsea-supporting forum members!
Sorry graandjac - Tottenham/Arsenal - perhaps we can agree to diasagree on this one!
We're hoping to be out by the end of the year and looking forward to the outdoors/lifestyle and meeting new frinds. Aprt from my family and friends, Arsenal and football on a cold winter's day/night will be the thing I really miss.

Hi Micheal and Jo,
No as mad as it seems to our friends (and to us as it goes) we could be going blind,i just think that a reccie for two weeks or so would only be done in holiday mode so it would seem great, We have quite a good pot to take but a reccie would still take a few grand or more which could go further when hopefully there.
The only thing that keeps us indoors here is the weather and we know that bit is better down under,so the outdoor thing is great,we to do like to socialize, love a beer or ten and both work so hope fully that part should fall into place how did you find things? We have said that the first year or so will be v hard so anything less will be a bonus,so we have no illusions that it will be easy from the start. cheers Graham
PS Deena there is nothing for us to agree on you are a gooner and iam a yid   :lol:At the end of one day you will get over it , must admit the new stadium looks good i have not been there yet.
nice to know i wont be only spurs fan in Adelaide

Ian maybe we need to get together over a game of golf(sure you said you played) fellow yid as long as you dont have to low a handicap  Cheers Graham
Graham,
Always up for game Graham. Takes the frustration away from being a spurs supporter!! Wifes always up for a shopping trip and a natter
Only play of 12 handicap (member over at Willingdon, Eastbourne)
Cant wait to play an Aus course, found some great ones around Adelaide on the web!

Going to have to take 10 shots off you sorry, i play at Hemstead Forest and struggle there to be consistent to many trees(excuse) .The course's look great out there and cheeper than here for a round. Any way we've just gone up to 6th with a game in hand ,cancelled sky last month to put some money away for the big adventure trying to listen online, not quite the same, that golf sounds good and the girls all like to shop and natter would be good to get together. Cheers Graham
Graham,
Same with me, have to put up with watching "Matchcast" on PC. Not the same but then at least you can watch it with out the nagging!
Nice course at Hemstead Forest, played there once before and enjoyed it. If ever you fancy a game just let me know and i am sure it can be arranged.

Still got sky here guys 8) :D I reckon it'll be the last thing I cancel. I'd invite you round to watch it but I reckon I'm a bit too far away. I'd also say lets make it a three-ball but my handicap is hitting the ball. :P     I still reckon its imposible to get a double figure score.  I'll have to take some lessons from you guys in Oz.

Well Graham and me will hopefully get some practice in so would be more than willing to give you a lesson!
Shame you are far away, i am sure Graham and me could bring the beers round and watch the footy!

Hi Graham
Sounds like the biggest handicap you have is being a Tottenham fan! Gloves are off now, I tried conciliation but as a Clock End girl, banter comes much more naturally!
John is the golfer (and a gooner of course) and is desperate to find people to play with when we finally get over to Oz, it's nice to know that he may be able to have a round with a few forum friends. I'll let him bore you all with details of his handicap (no, that's not me despite what he might say!) as I know as much about golf as I do Aussie rules.
Up the Arsenal.

Blimey Pete
3 hours each way to watch QPR - that's dedication. Fair play to you, a true fan. It only takes me an hour each way to get to the Emirates from here. I was thinking about commuting from Adelaide next season but John thinks it might be impractical.......!
However, I am bringing my CL fund with me - if we manage to get to the CL final again (have to up our game first) I will fly back to attend. I went to Paris for the final last year and very nearly had the best night of my footie life.
ps - Graham and Ian - the Champions League is what you get to enter if you don't eat lasagne pre-match........sorry guys couldn't resist it.
I assume you are talking about that other club from north london!
The golf idea sounds good. Even a bad round of golf (listening to a "Gooner")  is better than a good day at work!

Pete, you're talking my language - no such thing as too far or too much time and money when it comes to following your team.
Ian, there is only one team in North London. You know them - they've won the League twice at WHL - which is once more than Spurs have managed to win there I think......
John would love to play golf and as he's not as rabid a gooner as me, you may even get through a whole round without him even mentioning the Queen's favourite team.........
Even the queen has her faults then!

As much as it hurts me to say it..... I reckon Arsenal play the best football in the country at he mo. If they could put away half the chances they create no one would touch them. Just wished they had thrown the game at the weekend though. Anyone but United. :( Even Chelsea

or Spurs and the Premiership
or Spurs and the Champions League
I could go on, but what's the point........ Woldn't mind Berbatov off you next season though......
Thanks Pete, obviously I agree about us but it's very very frustrating to watch them waste chance after chance each week. As for Utd or Chelsea - I never thought I'd say it but I wanted Ytd to win the title. At least they play attractive football and I can't stand Mourinho and don't get me started on Cashley......
True, i must say the best team this year won!

Ahh yes but I have a fond hatred for 'The Winker'. I reckon that Man City player should be given a knighthood for his services to English football. How Rooney can play along side him after what he did in Germany. :x
I kinda like the Chelsea boss. At least he is a character. As for Mr A. Cole, he isn't half the player he was at Highbury. I don't think he has really done himself any good leaving Arsenal except in the bank balance area.
oh bless, so kind :)

Hi my name is Pete (pistol), living in the South East, Brighton. I am visiting Adelaide (Highbury, where my family live), in June 2007 and would like some information if possible. I expect your probably not very happy at moment being a Man United Supporter :? I am Arsenal supporter would of rather you won yesterday than Chelsea :!:
I have had a feeling of maybe looking to live in the Seaford area, but obviously this could change when I arrive in June.
I have a family myself, girlfriend and daughter (5 years old). So we are hoping to meet other poms and obviously become friends quite quickly with the aussies.
How has been, only being for a year. Are you missing the UK at all :?: When we arrive hopefully, we want to be able to stay for long term, so can you give us an pointers.
Thanks

Hi all
Please spare a thought for me, a yiddo since the age of 5 both sons 'Gooners' but loved watching Stevenage win the FA Trophy at the new Wembley the other week, much more exciting than that FA Cup snore but the big news on Sky Sports today was Man Utd's interest in Berbatov (he's not for sale ok !!) and the signing of Owen Hargreeves from BM.
Am an avid hacker too and anyone into Fantasy Football leagues ?

Hi there
Just back from a post-season break:) in Spain - John would be really interested in the PIA golf society. He's definitely up for that. I love Fantasy Football and am Chairman of our Superleague at work - we play the Daily Telegraph game - I'd be up for a PIA fantasy footie superleague - would even volunteer to write the weekly report. Boy, I'm at a loose end now the season is over!
Just about to buy my season ticket for next season - I know I may well only get half a season's use out of it but I can't bear the thought of being here and not being able to see my boys......with a rabid Gooner family like mine, there'll always be someone to take the ticket over for the rest of the season......

Hi Deena
Well count me in for the PIA Fantasy Footie league, like you I'm at a loose end now the seasons over,my friends and I always did the Telegraph one and over the past few years the more detailed interactive one where you have to pick from a squad of 18 (though Terry Enry let me down this season :() Anyway to make up for it I've joinned the 'Sundayleague football manager' one and thats most amusing though quite time consuming when trying to outfox your fellow managers and I'll definately keep that going while out there.
As for your team....well have been surrounded by the most of my life so you just get used to it;) but having both sons as gooners:p....so yes I quite agree..................

Well i am certainly looking forward to getting out there. Certainly wont be a problem getting a fourball with all the good golfers going to Adelaide.
When we finally get there after sorting the furniture for the house the choice of golf club to join is high on the list! ( well i suppose after finding a job, schools etc!)
We have already put a deposit on a house in Andrews Farm as we would prefer to arrive and go stright into our own home, while visas etc are sorted we are going to rent out, then we plan to settle in and if we want somewhere better we can then rent the house out and buy our "dream" home.
Just wish it was today we were going!

We looked at the south but have to admit Roberts job dictated where we chose to live we decided to rent at the moment, we will see how the job goes. but so far so good, there are bad areas in the north or so we've heard but as yet we haven't seen anything to make us think so.
We stayed in the south in October and it was very nice we also stayed in West Lakes also very nice and when we arrived we stayed in Oaklands Park ( O.O.A.) that was o.k a bit built up or our liking so i think you have to make up your own mind when u get here what suits one doesn't suit another see how it goes.
I know this might not be much help but i believe it's best to keep an open mind
