Hi

There is plenty of work for hairdressers - if you are unisex it will be a bonus. The work is mainly on a self employed basis, so you will need to discuss terms with the salon owner. I will be working on a 60/40 basis, although the owner has waivered this until I get more established - not saying all will do this. You do need to advertise yourself across the city to get clients.

Despite all this you will be okay. I am not unduly stressing.

Hope this is helpful.

Darren

Does 'the full service' include a wet shave / ear and nose hair singeing (as required)and a cup of tea and biscuit ? ;)

I eagerly await the feedback / score and if it is favourable will claim my 10% discount for my first haircut in Adelaide after we arrive in the new year. I will be working in the Royal Adelaide Hospital and if I recall it is within walking distance of where you will be.

I always thought Oz was cheaper than UK . I pay about £9 for a grade 2 back and sides and a grade 6 on top chipped in, and this is in salon. $30 seems steep to me. Must be getting old lol

It is a myth that Oz is cheaper than the UK, I'm afraid. Aside from haircuts, make up is also very expensive as are decent quality clothes and shoes. Tip for the day: Buy toiletries, make-up, shoes and good quality clothing before you leave the UK. ;)

I think your prices are fair if you get a good haircut OH charges 15 quid in his place here in the UK and you get a fantastic haircut and can play the playstation 3 or xbox on a 50" telly and drink you coffee while you wait.

Hi when you get over, call in the salon and see how things are done here in Adelaide. If I can be of any help I will be.

Ps. if the weather is nice we will be sat outside in the cafe next door, in the sunshine taking appointments over the phone. Not a bad gig but someone has to do it.

Keep in touch.

Hi,
$30 for a good hair cut in or near the city is about right, you may save a few dollas in the central market area, I got one for $15 on Torrens road today, it was a asian man with long hair dyed blonde at the ends and he is also willing to carry out an exorcism on your home to remove ghosts or lift curses on people for no extra charge (as it's a gift from god ) hair cut OK.:)
