You beat me to it - was just about to start the new thread for this one!
Looking forward to it already. We are back from holiday on 6th August (I was only a week out on the post last night) so anytime after that good for us - Sundays always easier than Saturdays but they are not impossible.
Whereabouts in Lincolnshire are you?
Django
07-06-2007, 09:52 PM
We are in Gainsborough.
Any day will good for us as Tracey will be on maternity leave then anyway and as I'm self employed I can pick and choose what days I work.
So whatever day suits you best will be good for us.

Hey!
We are in Tamworth.....so sort of in the middle of east and west....! Does that make us 'eligible' to join the meet as well.
More new faces.....!!

Sundays definitely best for us - I work in school all week and Neil works near enough all the time - more likely to get a Sunday off than a Saturday. Hows Sunday 19th August for everyone??? Not taking over - just like to be organised - get my few social arrangements in before the childrens hectic social life takes over all the dates!

Would it be best to meet in Lincoln or Newark, quite central for all of us then?

I'm going to beat Pete to it for once!!:D He always replies on our behalf before me. 19th should be fine. Will definitely have had baby by then. Newark or Lincoln sounds good, do you know anywhere suitable aound there? Just noticed that our children are around the same age so will be good for them to meet aswell.
I'm sure Pete will reply soon;)

Have some family in Lincoln so they will know some child friendly places there, don;t know Newark at all. Shall we say Lincoln and we can find out some places at the weekend and post suggestions to you.
Your kids look lovely in picture, they are very similar age, so should have fun at the meet.
Really looking forward to it, hope for nice weather!
What date is the baby due on? Are you feeling ok?

Baby is due on 23rd July. I feel great. Tracey don't look too healthy though. :D
We shall leave it in your capable hands to find a venue. We don't know Newark either and don't go into Lincoln much.
Looking forward to it though.

Thanks! Will see you there! We are in Lincoln so if anyone needs phone numbers of cheap hotels, campsites ect just let me know!
Also was thinkng, nearer the time it might be an idea to get final numbers and see if we can book a table or something as it gets really busy there on saturdays and sundays!!

Booking table great idea - numbers looking very healthy now!!
Have found two campsites - the one at Whisby was fully booked for that weekend but this one has loads of spaces:
Hartsholme Country Park Campsite, Skellingthorpe Road, Lincoln, LN6 0EY
They charge £11.70 per pitch per night, £14.20 per pitch with electric per night.
We have been to the Country Park before but not the campsite.
I am ringing to book our pitch tomorrow, think we are staying fri and sat night, may make it sunday night as well (neil works in Lincoln so he can go straight from the campsite Monday morning) - does anyone else want to join us - let me know asap and I can book them all together. The warden said there are still a few spaces left and they are quite big pitches, out tent is 16 man one and they said it would easily fit. Warden said he would be able to keep spaces reserved so we can camp nearby each other.
Why have an afternoon chatting when we can have all weekend!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone,
Ralphs booked us into the campsite today. The woman couldnt understand why she was filling up for that particular weekend.
We've decided to take the caravan instead of the tent though , and we've booked Sat and Sun night.
If the weathers nice she said we could extend the stay if there are any pitches free, so as its the school holls we might just do that!!
Were looking forward to meeting you all .

Hi everyone
We have been to Lincoln today to look at the campsite and the pub.:D
Campsite - very nice, clean and tidy site. We have a 16man tent and more than enough room for it on the pitch sizes. Toilet and showers looked ok. Hartsholme park itself also very nice. Some lovely walks etc - and squirels running around the park.
Pub - The Gamekeeper - nice and friendly pub. Have reserved an area overlooking the park so its easy to keep an eye on all the children. The play area is suitable for most ages and appeared to be totally enclosed. The doors onto the play area are in the area of the pub I have reserved. The Wacky Warehouse - indoor play area - is £2.50 per child, they can go in and out as much as they want throughout the day.
Cannot have the area until 1.30pm though as they have a childrens party in until 1pm. Very inconsiderate of them.
Please - nobody try and walk from the pub to the campsite - it was just over 6 miles, :eek:along a busy bypass with no paths. Not good walking conditions. We'll be getting a taxi back to the campsite, think prices are quite reasonable.
Please ask if you need anymore info.

Hi
We called into Hartsholme Country Park a few weeks ago, spoke to the warden at the campsite (who was kind enough to give us a guided tour of the site) and she told us that there wasn't many pitches booked for that weekend, we might not have many neighbours!
Get it booked and join in the fun, we are going to have a great weekend!

The facilites where fine, showers where fine,:D a couple for male and female, have stayed at places with better facilities but also stayed at places with a lot worse!:(
There is a cafe next to the campsite in the country park which does take-outs. The actual campsite was lovely, electric pitches first and then the camping field at the end.

You might actually be better off with a double blow up bed, when our 3 were little they all got on one , you'll manage 2 little ones on one easy , and there less lightly to fall off . There better if they have boxed sides too. Dont think you can use a lilo thing you have in a pool cos you'll just slip off! If you dont have a gas bbq or 2/3 ring gas burner , ( aldi and asda have them in now dirt cheap and the blow up beds ) and charcoal bbq's arnt allowed your stuck really!!
Sometimes , sites have a microwave that you pay for 20p a go , dont know if this one has though!Might be worth ringing them up to see what facilities they have.
We once camped when the twins were only 10 weeks old and they were still being breast fed at the time , we went with a group of freinds NIGHTMARE ,
i couldnt drink (thats bad enough) , hardly slept (double night feeds) , and did not enjoy myself at all, the fact that our oldest was only just 2 and kept crawling out off the tent into the mud didnt help as well , needless to say we didnt go again till they were 1 year old and Jacob 3 !!
Now we have the caravan we go off every other weekend rain or shine , we do still take the tent when we know the weathers going to be good though, you cant beat proper camping!!
We even go to a place in Pickering called "vale of Pickering " New Years Eve its fab, fire works party and everything , the kids love it.
As long as your dry and warm through the night you'll love it , you'll also find the kids sleep like logs too.
Looking forward to meeting everyone,
Bev;)

We also used to be a fan of Pickering - used to go to Rosedale Abbey - fantastic for kids.
We first went when Holly was 8 weeks old - completely different experience for us - she slept through for over 12 hours a night, all that fresh air must have knocked her out!

When we was at the site theare was signs up saying no fires - only gas barbeques
We use the multi kadac cooker - has barbeque, griddle pan and stuff on and we take a 2 stove burner. Julia taking her George Foreman grill thing. Could always get electric hookup for your microwave!

We bought a pump from mitchells wakefield , though they sell them in towsure sheffield,
that blows up beds in no time on the push down and pull up , and you dont get that screechy whiny noise like the electric ones .The kids argue whos going to blow up the beds!! So bring em over to us!!
Oh if your in a tent id recommend ear plugs , if your a light sleeper!! (like me)
The fresh air , that thankfully knocks the kids out , also has the same effect on adults , so sometimes you have snoring in stereo even if non of your family snore!!

10 seconds to pump up a bed with a slight whiny noise is far better than unnecessary exercise and leaves far more time for beer and wine! ;)
Snoring - never bothers us camping - like Ian says - we've normally eaten and drunken far too much to be irritated by anything! :o

Think we need the good weather fairy now, have just spent the evening packing the car and roof box in torrential rain and theres more forecast! Going to Devon for 2 weeks - please let summer start soon!!!!
Our two so excited about Lincoln camping - they asked if the campsite we looked round the other week was Devon, Holly quite upset when I told her no.

Im sure you'll have a great time Neil n Sarah , your old hats at the camping lark like us!!
Just dont forget the waterproofs , we once did that and had to go out and buy 5 kagools again.
I thought Ralph had put them in and he thought i had , the usual thing.
We now have a list , (laminated no less) that we check off before we go. With everything but the kitchen sink on it.
Fingers crossed the weather stays fine for you.

Of course you can come the more the merrier (or is that what Jools says about wine:confused:).
It takes place from 13.30 on Sunday 19th August at THE GAMEKEEPER, Newark Road, South Hykeham, Lincoln, LN6 9NH(on the A46 Newark Road, Lincoln Bypass).
Quite a few of those coming are making a weekend of it by campng at http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/de...asp?revid=4346 (http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=4346) we will be having a BBQ on the Saturday afternoon/evening. Mark STOP RUBBIN IT IN!!!!!
Got a new tent, its a dome with three rooms coming of it. 2x 3 beds and 1x 2beds. So big enough for us lot. (ebay bargain)
Sold trailer tent last year along with toilet, fridge and cooker. typical!!! Could of done with the fridge for all my wine, and chocolate. (and livys bottles of milk i spose)
Oh well! Got an old cooker to use, and a mini gas bbq somewhere and we need another bed for Olivia, but thats about it.
Blake is almost 9 (09 sept)
Ethan almost 5 (11th oct)
My nephew, Roman will be 2 on 6th October!!!!!!!!!
Just pray its dry!!!

leanne yep similar to ours! a big dome with 2 'bedrooms' - so how did you 'operate' the fridge???? how does it stay cold?
i am on the hunt for a nice gas bbq (portable one)
we bought 2 ready beds from millets (were on sale) and sleeping bags too
sarah said she'd have spare blowup bed (it's got so raised sides if i remember correctly)
yep, let's do another 'hope-it'll-stay-dry-dance'

 Er you plugged it in, it got cold! if you don't go where there is elec you use a generator. (sold that too)
We got tons of sleeping bags, summer and winter ones, and two double beds, think we will get a king size so theres room for liv in with us. (Mark don't want his baby on her own :o)
Our bar-b was from local camp shop down here £25 (i think) millets are v expensive, ebay is better.
if you haven't got an elec lead with the outdoor adapter thingy, you can buy the adapter and attach it to a long extension lead, it is a LOT cheaper. (at least that's what mark has always used)
IS ANYONE DESPERATE FOR STUFF? PUT IT ON HERE WE, -OR SOME ELSE MAY BE ABLE TO HELP (CAMPING THINGS ONLY PLEASE, ;) don't get any ideas you lot.)

Dont forget ,
when you book in at the campsite, you must say if you want hook up. (electric)
Sorry if youve already done this , or know this ;)
Usually , in our experience anyway , it 's not standard for tents .
Im only putting my two penneth in cos when Ralph booked us in , with the caravan, the woman pointed out that she could squeeze us in , when we said we wanted hook up.
Depending on the voltage/watts at the site, plugging in too many electric items will trip the system!!
Asda , Morrisons, Aldi , Netto have all got cheap gas 2 ring burners at the moment by the way.

Hi everyone,
We'll be at the meet on 19th August and are all booked up for the camping on the Saturday and Sunday nights too. You might have seen our names on the list and not know who we are. We have already been members of the Adbrits site for a little while now , so some of you lot will already know us, but we thought it was about time we joined up on here so we can introduce ourselves to anyone who doesn't already know us. After all, we will be meeting you all in person soon. :) It's fairly obvious from our title what our names are, we have 2 daughters 11 and 7. We currently live in Goole, East Yorkshire, although Simon is originally from Nottingham and I am from York. Simon and the kids have never been camping before in their lives and I haven't been since I was a kid so it certainly will be a bit adventure for us. We may be in need of a bit of assistance (or even a lot ;)).
Anyway look forward to meeting you all soon.

Hi Simon and Carol,
Welcome to P.I.A. takes a bit of getting used to , when your used to the yellow screen doesnt it?
Not as busy but easier on the eye.
Not long now till the camp , have you had a practice in the garden yet, an all nighter?
Do you still want to borrow the gas stove, and shall i bring the pump ?
Ralphs bought a 4 foot aussie flag to fly from his long fishing pole, so you'll know where we are when you arrive , come over to us and we'll help you get the tent up.
Ralphs still trying to get me to take our tent instead of the caravan, so if its a good forcast, we may well do that.
Fingers crossed.
We will keep a look out for you , see you there.

Hi Bev,
Yes the PIA site is a bit different from the yellow screen but it seems rude to go on a PIA meet and not even bother to introduce ourselves to everyone. No we haven't had a practice in the garden ... it's rained most weekends  anyway that would spoil the excitement of the new experience for us. ;) Yes Bev, it would be great if we could borrow your gas stove. We don't have one. We're not planning on doing a lot of cooking on our first attempt at camping but it would be nice to be able to make ourselves a cup of tea if nothing else. What do we need to do about buying gas? Again, yes the pump would be useful too if you don't mind. Great idea to put a big Aussie flag up, now everyone will know where you are. Your help will be very much appreciated. Yeah, I think you should definitely take the tent if the weather forecast's good ... you should rough it like the rest of us. LOL. Surely we must be due some good weather by then. Look forward to seeing you when we get there.

I hope we should be able to. Tracey lived on a scout campsite for around 15 years (warden's daughter). I used to be a scout leader for about the same amount of time and we both used to be on service crews of a few campsites as well. I would like to think we learned something along the way. :):D:D

I hope we should be able to. Tracey lived on a scout campsite for around 15 years (warden's daughter). I used to be a scout leader for about the same amount of time and we both used to be on service crews of a few campsites as well. I would like to think we learned something along the way. :):D:D
We are both gutted we can't camp with you all for the weekend but we both hope to pop in now and again and will deffo be there for the BBQ. If anyone needs anything pm me. If I haven't lent it out to someone else you are more than welcome to borrow it.
Pete
Thanks Pete for your very kind offer of the loan your camping equipment. We will definitely bear it in mind if we suddenly realise we're short of something essential. Wow!! You and Tracey certainly have had a lot of camping experience. I'm impressed. Shame you can't join us for the weekend but look forward to meeting you for the BBQ.

Me and the kids have just had a week in Colwyn bay(with my mother:confused:), we are having 5 days @ home and then a week in lytham-st-anns (with Morgan:D). I knew your meet was the last w/e of one of them and have obviously confusd them I'm clever like that:eek:. We were going to gate crash if it had been the first w/e of our hols but as it is our last w/e we will be coming home then. Also I couldnt quite get the southern accent right:p. Hope you all enjoy it anway will look forward to the feed back after our next hol

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Think it was about ........40
Will give them a ring tomorrow and warn them of the '''slight''' number increase! Hope it isn't a problem. If it is, we'll just have to have the meet at the campsite!!
The area was a fair size that they where going to save for us but not big enough to seat all of us when it was 40, I said it wasn't a problem as we wouldn't all be eating at same time and kids would be running about - hopefully outside - etc. The area was right next to the patio doors to outside and the toilets and play area.
Will post tomorrow night what they have said.
Oh and we are 2 plus 3 for the meet and camping - Holly invited her friend along!

Julia - After "Aussie Round Niel" I don't think we'll be bothering with name badges!!!!!!!! It would take all afternoon to write the names out for everyone. Think its much more fun trying to remember whos who!
I didn't get chance to ring the pub today to confirm numbers, will do it first thing tomorrow. God knows what they'll say - the meet is rather larger now!

Hi East Midlanders,
could we make the meet a tad larger?
we are from the west midlands but dont hold that against us, when i first saw the date for the meet we had other arrangements for that date but thankfully they have been cancelled so we can make it know, of course if no one minds us gatecrashing the east. :D
many thanks

I have spoke to the manager at The Gamekeeper today and confirmed numbers. The line went a bit quiet until I explained that we would not all be eating together. Just coming throughout the day, kids outside and in play area etc. As long as I am there at 1.30pm they will keep area aside for us.
What more of an excuse do we need to get to the pub early! :):D

Hi Graandjac,
hope you are both well.
Family still in the dark unfortunately, never a good time to tell, plus need to keep the blood pressures down for our medicals on the 14th Aug so no plans to tell them this week either, at this rate we will tell them on the way to heathrow.
look forward to seeing you both again on the 19th.

I have just checked the 10 day weather site we use and it gives out sun with cloud for the whole weekend. They do change a lot though, it gave us 10 days of solid rain for our devon holiday, we had 3 days of part rain, a few cloudy and the rest glorious sunshine.
Will all just have to wait and see what its going to do! We will be taking wellies and waterproofs just in case.
The campsite did look quite shady from all the trees etc.

Will somone, perhaps our wonderful moderator !!, make an announcement a day or so before, time, venue, directions etc - is the plan for those of us not camping to wear a specific colour or something?
I have met a couple of families from forums & its slightly embarrassing when you approach someone & get it wrong ! LOL
