We're from Bromsgrove near Worcester, although we've spent the last 12 months living in Solihull - we decided to be as tight as possible financially so Nick sold his car and walks to work, which is now only 5 mins away!

Hi
We're from South East London too - Eltham/Sidcup borders. We have our visas and are hoping to go by August this year. The family consists of myself, hubby and 3 daughters 15, 11 and 9.
Oooooooo, I missed this thread but I'm guessing it was because we were in transit.
Trev (hubby), myself and eldest daughter (Danni) were all born in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, Middle daughter (Tori=in the kids section) was born in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk and youngest daughter (Cheyenne) was born in Huntungdon, Cambridgeshire. Before moving to Brisbane two years ago we lived nr Wroxham, Norfolk but being a military family we've lived in many towns including Monchengladbach, Germany. We now live in Northgate nr Adelaide having moved here over the new year.
Originally from Leeds
After nearly 7 years living here I've still not lost my accent.Unlike my daughter who has gone all Aussie now ;-)

This is getting more crazy. We are from Mottingham, just down the road from Donna T (walking distance) and across the road from MummyJarvo
(still walking distance - if you 've had a drink and don't realise how far it is!)

Well maybe we should test it out and have a few drinks and see if we manage to walk home.
I think the saying 'will the last one to leave please turn the lights out' could well apply in the London/Kent border region soon. My daughters have lost three schoolfriends (different families) to Australia.
Why can I still not make up my mind whether to go or not :?

Cornish by Origin, but Army family meant I was born in Farnham, moved to Bordon, Moenchengladbach, Arborfield, Wetter an der Ruhr, Arborfield, back to Moenchengaldbach, I then joined the Army, so back to Arborfield for my training, Middle Wallop, Detmold, Belfast, back to Detmold, back to Belfast, met the future wife, left the Army, moved to St Ives (Cambs), down to Execketer, Norwich, got married, moved to Belfast, been here for 8 years, and my feet are itchy, so off to Adelaide, I hope!
And this time it really is it, the next time I move, I will be the one in wooden box. Mind you I said that 8 years ago!

Susi/Sally,
You are both reasonable close to me.especially you susi. I am in Camberley, Surrey. I live with hubby Steve who works at Windsor castle (looking after the Queen our daughters tell their friends). We have twin girls Zoe and Tyla who have just turned 7. I am applying to the SA Police so will know by June 1st if I'm in or out. If its a thumbs up then we hope to be out there by the end of the year. House is going on the market at Easter just to give us chance to get the best price.
Would love to meet up and compare notes.have either of you ever been to Oz???

We currently live in Barnstaple North Devon as Steve is in the Royal Marines.
I am originally from Ellesmere Port on the Wirral and Steve grew up in Poole but was born in Singapore as his dad was also in Marines.
Have also lived in Yeovil, Plymouth, Poole, Arbroath, Arborfield and now Barnstaple!
So you could say we've "been about a bit"!!!

How long ago were you in Arborfield? the last time I was there (1989 - 1991) was my basic training in PMC, I understand that has closed now. If your husband did his Tiffy course there he must be either Aircraft or Electronics, and as you are now in Chivenor, he must be running around with the Marines now, When does he have to go to Afghanistan then?
Have you looked at the easy route into Australia? The Australian Army will let him join at the same rank and trade, and as long as he does 2 years (I think) you get full citizenship.

Hi Davy
Steve was there on Basics 92 - 93, then upgraders 2000 and then Tiffy course 2003 - 2004. He is a Tels Tech but now the Tiffy Course is Generic and they are Artificer Electronics and the degree that they now get is in Electronic Systems Engineering.
He has thought about the easy route but we are looking at coming out in 2009 when he has done his 22 years in the Marines and he really can't be bothered with joining the military again. I know its easy but as he is in Afghanistan at the moment he's just wants us to have some time together as a family. He has been approached about joining the Australian Commandos and the Australian REME but he is a WO2 over here and when he looked at the pay scales over there he was pretty shocked at how rubbish they were.
He has some contacts over there and we have been advised to go for RSMS visa so we'll see how that goes. I think he quite fancies life as a civvy!! Not sure how keen he'll be when he finds out he has to work ALL day and can't just knock off when there is nothing doing!!!
