It's 5.42am here in Adelaide and I'm sat on a pc,half asleep.

Reason..............

I am trying to check in Mrs Tyke online with Singapore Airlines.
(She is returning from the UK after her Mum's funeral)

I don't know if this works with any other airline but with Singapore you can change your seat if there are spares.Just go into Singapore airline's site - check in.Only 48 hours before the flight though.
Mrs Tyke prefers certain ones so I'm online trying to arrange it.
Hopefully this is a handy tip for some.

Now I have just realized that this is only the Singapore Airlines flights and not the connecting one she has from Leeds.Guess which Muppet is up waaaayyyyy to early and has to stay awake for 3 hours now

Good tip Tyke. We are flying with Singapore Airlines when we come over in (hopefully if we ever get the visa  ) April so will log in and look at the seating thingy

Good to see Mrs Tyke on her way back home and hope everything went ok with the funeral and her visit to uk.

I'll remind you to do it 48 hours before by PM - if there are spare seats it is great to have a little "re-shuffle"

Unfortunately I was not able to check in Mrs Tyke because she has a connecting flight from Leeds and the software will not allow me to check her in - even tried from her Heathrow departure to no avail :(

Anyway,Mrs Tyke returns on Tues - I might not be online much that day

Hi Donna

Pleased to meet you.

Just spoken to Mrs Tyke for the last time before she flies.
She has her fingers crossed that she will have plenty of time in Heathrow for the connecting flight.

.. you probably know this already, but www.seatguru.com is a very handy site for reference when you're selecting your seats.

We flew out with Virgin via Hong Kong & Sydney and were also able to select seating positions as soon as we had booked, about 4 months before our flight. Having said that the journey takes too long so use Singapore or Malaysian as they and I think Cathay Pacific fly direct to Adelaide from their respective home Airports. We came on Virgin as we saved about 300 pounds each on the price of our seats. (return as we are travelling home again in 2 weeks to await the results of our Visa Application.
