We went camping at Streaky Bay many years ago and it was a lovely spot, the campsite is just behind the beach. The bay there was very calm quiet water, very peaceful. There is a good community hotel there where you can get a good meal, lots of fresh seafood. It's a long old drive to Streaky Bay though, the highway across the Eyre peninsular just seems to go on and on...

I used to work with a guy who regularly went camping. His favourite spots were somewhere on the banks of the Murray (can't remember where) and Sheringa Beach, also on the Eyre Peninsular. We visited Sheringa and it is the opposite of Streaky Bay, huge sand dunes and massive surf. The campsite was at the back of the beach and in those days a bit primitive, but a totally awesome spot. Not sure if there is even a proper campsite there, but the Eyre Peninsular as a whole is well worth a visit.

Other places in the Flinders where you can camp are Wilpena and Arkaroola. Both beautiful places.
