Does anyone know how long the process is taking at the moment, I was told today by immigration that it's 4-6 weeks from when you lodge your application.

Both myself and my husband applied online on 13th July. I put the 2 kids on my application and had it approved on 16th July, so only 3 days. However, my husbands application hasn't been approved yet. I rang to ask and was told it could take up to 90 days.

Without wishing to sound thick, what happens when you get your citizenship, do they give you a date for the ceremony or do you have to organise that yourself?

Mine took nearly 90 days from passing the test New Years Eve, and then to have my ceremony I waited another 6 weeks, but it depends on the council and how often they do the ceremony.

I have been waiting for a ceremony since April, unfortunetly the June one was full so have to wait another 3 months !!

If you need it quickly once it has been approved you can try another council. We found Mount Barker council to be very accommodating, fitting my daughter in at the last moment. There are not as many migrants in that area and there were only 10 at the ceremony.
