WHY PARENTS DRINK

A boss wondered why one of his most valuable employees had not turned up for work or phoned in sick one day. He dialled the employees home number and was greeted with a child's whisper "Hello".

"Is your daddy home?" he asked.

The child whispered "Yes"

"May I speak to him?"

The child whispered "No"

Surprised, the boss asked "Is your mummy home?"

"Yes" the child said.

"May I speak to her?"

Again the child whispered "No"

Hoping to speak to someone with whom he could leave a message, the boss asked

"Is there anybody else there?"

"Yes" whispered the child, "A policeman".

Wondering why the police would be at his employees house the boss asked if he could speak to the policeman.

"No, he's busy" whispered the child

"Busy doing what?" asked the boss

"Speaking to daddy and mummy" said the child in a quiet voice.

By now he was growing more worried as he heard a loud noise in the background through the earpiece in the phone.

"What is that noise?" he asked

"A helicopter" whispered the small voice

"What is going on there?" demanded the boss, growing more apprehensive.

Again whispering the child answered "The search team have just landed a helicopter".

By now he was really alarmed and also a little frustrated and asked "What are they searching for?"

Still whispering the child answered with a stifled giggle "ME!"
