Hi, we've just bought an apple Mac book and are having a bit of trouble using it as we've only ever had a windows based laptop before. Was just wondering if anyone has one or knows how they work who could give us some advice. We are having trouble with email in particular.

Thanks very much

Nina

Hi Nina,

I've been an Apple user for years so if you want to send me a PM with any particular problems you're having, then feel free to. Once you get used to the operating system you'll see it's far superior, and never experience a 'crash' again!

With regards to the email, do you have an online account like hotmail, gmail, yahoo mail or are you trying to use the Mail application on the mac? It's quite easy to set any account up on the mail application, and I can give you a quick how to if that's your issue.

I seem to recall there were some tutorials somewhere for people transitionning from windows. can't remember if they came with the Mac, or whether I found them online...

I have a mac at home, and windows+linux at work, so basically constantly confused. At least all my keyboards are set to the same language these days, unlike when I lived in Switzerland.

It takes time to get used to it but its fab once you work it all out! I was so frustrated when we first got our mac but they are great and so much better than pc's.

Best advice I can give is just practice using it and play around with all the features till it clicks.

Good Luck!

Thanks Everyone for your replies, I am starting to get used to my mac and Im sure that in time I will grow to love it....

Yes, you will, I start to use Mac a year ago, at first you are not used to it, but later on you will love it. The only problem is that Mac doesn't have as many programs as Windows.

I just think there are not so many crap ones on a Mac :biglaugh:

There are plenty of apps/programmes that can be downloaded if you need them :) Plus things like screenshots and so on can be done via key command which replaces a lot of what the mouse does if you want it to. I'm a bit lazy and use the mouse a fair bit but use lots of key commands also now I've learnt them.
