are these wasps

gardening on saturday cutting back some ivy something flew at me i carried on ,suddenly a swarm of insects started to sting me on the hands ,thought they were wasps but they had really long legs anyone know what they are

they had built a nest like a bees ,that has now gone but they still keep coming back .

they stung me 10 times on the hands through my gloves,any one know what they are :arghh:me at the time

They might be paper wasps if they have kind of long hangy down legs, we get those around occasionally and our neighbour was stung when gardening when he disturbed a nest.

There are many many different species of wasp, so to answer your question, yes they probably were wasps.

Wow hope you're okay. I phoned tthe council and there is a wasp hotline . They came to my house within 24 hrs and got rid of them.
