Hi

We spent 10 days in KL about 10 years ago we had no children then but we loved just walking around the markets sampling the food buying fake D&G T shirts (should I say that!) the night markets are great and will really interest the kids.

Then there is are the KL towers - I believe they have all sorts of attractions in them now and a viewing platform.

Have a great time, we absolutely loved it and it was really cheap (don't know about now)

Hello, I was in KL in 2007, didn't have any children at the time but would highly recommend the Petronas Towers, we had to go there first thing in the morning and queue for ages to get the free tickets they give out everyday, but there is also a HUGE shoping mall there which has a great interactive science museum in there which was really cheap, great fun for kids and a good way to spend time before going up in the giant lift to the viewing platform.

have a fantastic time!

If you haven't already done so, have a look at Reviews of Hotels, Flights and Vacation Rentals - TripAdvisor - it's my second favourite forum after this one! You can search the KL forum for previous people's questions - and KL being a popular transit place there's bound to have been someone asking the same - or put in your own question. They have locals and location experts who answer questions as well, so you can get some really good info. We've used it for holidays in the past and got some really good info and suggestions.

When we go to KL we stay at the Park Royal in club rooms, which we usually get for about 150 a night. This gives all day access to the Club lounge where there are free snacks n drinks. It also gives complimentary broadband and breakfast. However kids under 12 are not allowed into the club lounge. There is a huge buffet breakfast in the basement restaurant areas and a pool on a terrace which has an area attached for kids.

The monorail runs straight past and you have a choice of two stops. There are about 6 large shopping malls all within minutes of this hotel. The Berjaya Times Square one has cinemas and an amusement park with rollercoasters etc inside it.

KL has a bird park with large walk in aviaries and a butterfly park, both are very beautiful. They are in the green belt where there is an orchid garden, a lake and a deer enclosure at which you can buy food to feed them. There is also the national museum. It's worth getting the hop on hop off bus ticket as it covers travel to all of these places and is very reasonably priced.

There is a waterbased amusement park a bit out of KL, we haven't been, but you can get a train there. There is also a large shopping mall next to it with ice skating and cinemas and a hotel complex. It's called Sunway Lagoon.

There is an elephant sanctuary about an hour out of KL which you can visit and watch them being washed etc. and also a cave with a temple in it which is reached by 200 odd steps. Most hotels can organise these tours for you, or you can hire a taxi for the day and get them to take you to these places.

We went to the Petronas Towers (great mall and fantastic buildings) but couldn't be bothered with the wait to go up to the viewing platform, so we went to the KL Tower (telecom) instead, which is not quite as high but looks higher because because it is built on a hill. There you can go right up to the top and you get fantastic views of the city, whereas the Petronas viewing platform is only half way up. No queue either. When we went to KL we stumbled on the IT mall, full of computers, games, mobile phones etc - my kids loved it.
