Buying flights for a trip back to the UK

Hi Guys

 

We are looking at returning to the UK for a family wedding early August next year and wondered if there is a 'best' time to buy tickets? I have heard that they do have January sales on flights, is this correct? What kind of deals do they usually offer? Or is there any other known periods where the airlines have sales on flights?
