Enjoyed you post Lindsey and very true what you said, we too are loving it. Glad all is going well for you, hope to meet you again sometime, Gina
Im really glad its working out for you. Im sure everyone who wants to emigrate is too , so your bound to get the well done , what a good post etc etc. off everyone out there who are living it , loving it .
But like you say these are YOUR circumstances, this is your family.
Same as the folks on the program who dont like whats on offer for their families.
This is what im trying to say.
By the way.
We too are into camping and caravaning , in a big way, there are some lovely sites around Adelaide . When we were on the reccie we stayed at quite a few in the campervan . The best in our oppinion was West Beach , think thats what it was called. Brilliant facillities . We also liked the basic Bellair national park one too.
Weve just traded in our 4year old 5 birth caravan in for a 2008 6birth.
Using the cash wed put away for the rest of the visa process for the balance !!
We will be using it (in the rain and mud!!) for the first time this weekend, but the weather here has never stopped us getting off, we go every other weekend through out the year.
Think were going to have to make sure we pick somewhere well away from a river too !!
Or you may see us on the news bobbing along the river, out to sea !!
Just watching Libby on the tv now , its deffinatley working for them. Still the emotional pulls which is natural .
Bobs loving it , hes taken a step back , like lots would like to do.
What a difference to their lifestyle. It will be great for everyone to see something possitive on the show.
What a difference it has made with all the extra space and storage to the new house too !!!!
just watched show . thought you came across great ! how did you get to be on wanted down under ? hope to get out this year for recci . have two boys 10 and 12 . think they will take a lot of persuading !
There are two lasting bequests that we can hope to give our children - one of those is roots: the other is wings!
Thanks guys for your positive comments.
I suppose they showed the junk room and made out all 4 of us slept in it! I could kick myself for decorating when they came but hey ho!
Anyway, we got on the show by having an email from our agent. The BBC contacted them and if you wanted to take part, you rang one of the researchers. We had a chat for about an hour and half. A few days later they rang and asked if they could do preliminary filming at our house. That went fine until Bob made an outrageous comment on a very touchy issue and I went nuts! I was having a real go at him - apparently from that minute we were on the show although we didn't know it at that point. The fact that we weren't put off shouting at each other, or rather I should say me shouting at him, meant we made good TV. They told us the following week and as we were the first family selected for that series, we got to choose where we went. We went to Brisbane because it was the only place where filming fell during school hols. For me, it was invaluable. I had never been to Oz before adn although I knew we probably wouldn't go to Brisbane within a couple of days, it helped me get the ground running when we got here as I knew shops etc.
At that time, we were actually thinking of heading to Melbourne! Adelaide didn't pop up as an option until Oct 06! We got here in April 07 so almost been here a year now. At the time of filming we had been here about 4 and a half months I think.
The dog is now huge and a monster pain in the a*se!
I am def feeling more positive now than at the time of filming.
Didn't realise it was YOU on the telly till I just read this post - Hi!!!!
The program was great - I will be getting my mum to watch it on bbc i-player cos I think she is a little skeptical we might be making a mistake - not that she has said it in so many words.
Hubby will be watching it when he gets in as well.
it was great, brilliant to see the kids settling in so well - what an improvement in your lifestyle that is something to aspire towards the house is lovely.
Watched ya on tv this morning.
Good to see an update on how someone who has made the move is realy getting on.
Not trying to be rude but you all look so much better and happier than the first episode we saw you in.
Your house looks realy nice in a realy nice area.
Hope to run into u when we come over.
It was fabby. The only down point for me was that it seemed more air time was given to repeating the stuff from the first programme and repeating stuff over and over again.
Good to see that you are all more settled in Oz. Can't wait to sample the outdoor life style with the better weather.
Hi Libby and family so nice to meet you, so to speak. This was a great show, thanks, after all thats been said about the previous episodes.
One question I have for you about your house, which looks lovely by the way, even with the room thats a "work in progress". I understood that you could only by a new house in SA but yours did not look like a new build. Have I misunderstood the rules.
Looking forward the the other "revisited" programmes.
