Can anyone help me please, Where is the best or cheapest place to buy power tools for a carpenter?

 

As there is no amazon in aus is there an alternative?

Total tool have some good deals also ebay

depends wot you need , but was in totals tools at lonsdale in the week , some reasonable gear in there. But you have to go to all shops and haggle , or wait to offers are on.....and then still haggle

Depends what quality your after bunnings is more DIY stuff I got a lot of dewalt stuff of Ebay from USA even with postage its still cheaper than some of the shops here total tools is not bad but can be a bit pricey for some of there stuff just depend what your looking for at the time.

Blackwoods are pretty good and so are Gasweld at No.1 Whitmore square in the city.

 

Don't forget to keep all your tool receipts either

Mu husband Paul is a carpenter and he has used Total Tools, but you need to haggle and shop around I wouldn't just stick with one store.

Yes i had trouble with that one too, need REAL BEER, not lager !

 

A lot better now on the beer front but be warned, this is the beer that usually gets spotted at BBQ's and is first to go.

Tip # 1.

Keep a secret stash

 

I shipped over everything and i mean everything, advantage for me was dad worked at BA so i didn't pay any excess freight ect.

Reality, bring everything useful and maybe sentimental. If you have not used it for ages then you probably won't need it.

One the plus side get the tools valued (for freight and insurance purposes).

 

Tip # 2.

When you do your first tax return you can claim the depreciation back.

 

 

Do you have a job to go to yet ?

What sort of electrical work do you do, let me know and i'll advise/help where i can:smile:

Yep that's correct, seen 110v only in some very old factories.

Hey Barney, not sure if you meant to quote me or the original poster, Ive been in the trade 25 years man and boy, there is a smallish to medium sized firm just north of CBD who have verbally offered me a tryout in Jan when I get there. I got interviewed by Red Appointments here in the uk regarding a job with Nilson "Busbar Specialist" but never heard from them again "nice". I have been running my own NICEIC approved firm here for 4 years, but have called it a day in prep for coming over there. before that I have been in the general building trade and done most general stuff, refurbed a few houses and re sold. Ill work in Woolworths if I have to when i get there.. just finishing my last job this week, then sorting and packing tools ect. I have my OSTSR, But I know thats not a ticket to ride over there. wife is going to UNISA, studying Midwifery in Feb. How long you been there Pal?
