Not long til we get to Adelaide for our reccie now.

There seem to be so many restaurants and bars knocking about, but I want to eat and drink at places recommended by you.

Where's a great place to start a night out, have a bit o scran, and then take a few beers, perhaps catch some live music, that kind of thing? We're not bringing kids or owt, so very much fancy a couple of late nights as well as the laid back, early to bed type evenings out.

All ideas very much welcome!

I'm not much of a city goer myself but there is loads going on.

Hindley Street buzzes on a night.Gouger Street has loads of bars and resteraunts.Call into Chinatown for a bite to eat, some cheap eats there.

Sometimes we will go into the Strathmore Pub on North Terrace and then into the Casino opposite.

Down here in the south we like to pop into Manoli's at Port Noarlunga for a meal.

The Victory Pub above Aldinga is a favourite of ours for a meal ,great views over the bay and southern suburbs - the front bar is very old fashioned and packed most nights.:)

Glenelg is my favourite!!!

So many eateries, Gringoes(Mexican), Mama Carmelas(Italian), Hogs Breath,Spices(Indian), Salt,Oyster Bar(Holdfast Shores),ETC ETC!!!

Then you can go to the Grand after for live music or the Pier (holdfast shores) Or the Dublin(Irish Bar) Or Salt after is a bit more sophisticated. And then after the chocolate bar to have a Fondeau or yummy chocolate coffee,or the Pie floater shop down the Alley on Jetty Road.

There is so much there all you need to do is walk/drink/eat,walk/drink/eat!!!!!

Enjoy!!!!

There are heaps of places to go to :

Our favourites are :

Tap Inn (Kent Town), this pub is fantastic and the food is awesome

BoHo bar (Unley), the pub is themed as a circus / moulen rouge type pub, food is pretty good upstairs

Bombay bicycle Club (Port Road), Been decorated by the same people as the Tapp Inn, and do a good curry too

Fizz on the beach (holdfast shores), salt and pepper prawns whilst watching the sunset with a pint of stella, Fantastic.

All of the above do have small live acts but really as a background noise.

Best place we've seen for live acts so far is in the Playford Hotel in the city on North Terrace, maybe go there after cooking your own steak on the hot rocks in the Strathmore.

If you have the cash then a meal at the Magill Estate in Magill is a must, in an elevated restaurant overlooking the city in the grounds of the Penfolds Winery.....

Hope this helps..

now then caoimhe, I LOVE the sound of that. As much beer and wine as you can drink in 2 hours for the price of a pint in London!?!? Fantastic! May have to investigate that further.

The Tap Inn in Kent Town also sounds like the place to go and nosh.

Top tips everyone, thanks for helping us out!

My husband, who's from Adelaide, didn't know this about the casino (been a few yrs since he's been home for any length of time). Needless to say, he's quite happy.

Shhh don't say anything but you guys sound like a MUCH more outgoing bunch than the Yanks I've come across in Adelaide;)

Hi stormy,

When you get to Adelaide you will have to try the famous Pie Floater which you can buy outside of the casino/Railway Station on north terrace, these are aussie delicacies, so after a night gambling come out and try one, you wont forget it in a hurry,

regards ray

It may have been a while since you last came over, the Pie van outside the casino is gone, At christmas my mate got the munchies for a Pie floater and ran round the city for an hour and came up empty handed.

Hi Rob & Clare,

I was there in 2004 on holiday and the pie van was still there then, it must have floated off after that LOL,
