family run campsites

Hi all, I have got 10wks and 2 days to go. And can't wait, I am coming over on my own, (without the wife and children) to do a reccie. Before maybe, applying for a visa. Just a little question apart from big4s are there quite a few little family run campsites without all the bells and whistles. Just need somewhere to chill out of an evening and do a bit of socialising, and soak it all up. I think i am a bit too old, (37) and cranky for hostels, and hotels are far too comfy. Im not on holiday. thanks for your time and help Lee.

ps any names and rough prices would be very helpfull. Finding it hard to get prices and sites on the internet.

We popped down to Brighton Caravan Park this weekend - albeit just to have a coffee on the beach...but its a nice caravan park which is situated right on the beach...next to the Sailing Club (what what) and the Local Life Saving Club - so places to socialise.

Thanks Sarah. I see you have lived in Adelaide for a few years now, with your family. Do you and your family still love it down there? Is it as family outdoors as people think. I have a 6 yr old boy and a 4 yr old girl, and we love it outdoors but the weather just makes it so hard to do things. It looks lovely Moana and the sub around there. Lee

Hi ya LeeYes, we still completely love it here and our daughters have completely embraced the place. My only regret is that we didnt do it soon (they were aged 7 & 10) when we arrived. I reckon your kids are perfect ages - theres such alot for them to do, the Surf Life Savers club is something great to get them into....training on the beach at the weekend and a sausage sizzle afterwards!

 

We love the outdoors and this weekend we are kayaking along the Onkaparinga river....we are always outdoors at the weekend. Even in the winter here, we get outselves out for a beach walk. Theres netball and soccer for the kids....lots and lots to do.

 

 

They'll love it!

Funnily enough we live opposite the owners of Brighton Caravan Park, they are semi retired but if they are anything to go by their campsite should be good.:smile:
