As Blightys have now removed their attack on our members from their FB we have deleted the comment from the forum as we feel this is only fair. As in the title of this thread the owners are trying to sell their new venture and are not closing the doors until a new owner is found. We wish them every luck with the sale.
It seems to me that a lot of you are pleased that this business is for sale (some because you dont like the idea of imported fish!! long queues, paying a little bit more for the fish and chips that your 'crave for') but so many of you were so excited about it all before it opened and were wishing the owners the best of luck, standing in queues to say you'd been there - and now a great number of you seem to be enjoying the fact that its sale and not doing so well!!!! At least they tried!! How many of you dont even try - arrive, whinge and go back without even trying. If it has failed then its their money that's lost, not yours so just wish them luck and go back to the boring fish and chips you were eating before they opened.
So is it still business as usual for them until it's sold?
Actually I think the whole point the owners are trying to make is that it hasn't failed - it will just be under new ownership at some point in the near future, so with all due respect, your attack at people 'whinging' could in fact spread that incorrect rumour even further!
Perhaps it is a salutary lesson in the use of social media for business though, that rumours start from the smallest thing and are very hard to control once started. I'm not sure how it usually works, but usually you will just go to a place one day and see a sign saying "Under New Management" without ever having known beforehand that the business was up for sale - that way incorrect rumours don't start, your staff don't fear for their jobs too much, and business doesn't drop off, thus making the business sale more difficult and the price you can get for it lower.
As far as I understand it, it's business as usual at Blighty's, but if anyone thinks they could do a better job, now's your chance!
Sometimes the grass will appear greener on the other side because it has been fertilised by bull****
Personally,i've never been to this Chippy. Why can't we all just wish those involved the very best,as i have no doubt they have never done any harm to anyone on here.
Good on them, if THEY want to sell THEIR chippy then it's nobody else's drama......I don't even know why the gossips are out in force regarding this matter. If that's the highlight of the news and gossip in Adelaide then God help us all.
Good luck to all concerned, and I wish them every success in their future endeavours.
I was employed by Blightys and for the last six months it wa always their intention to move away in December. I have now been given two weeks notice as they can't afford to pay my salary anymore. To be fair he did give me first refusal to buy the shop from him. I may have even considered it if at the right price. Good luck to ever take a it on or watch this space I may even open up my own.
Janice - Sorry to hear you are going to be out of work :( Hopefully you can find something else soon.
You live a fair ways from me but if I hear of anything I'll let you know. Are you looking for anything in particular? I have gone self employed here since we arrived last month and work is slowing building up for me although of course, sometimes it'll be quieter than others but I factor that in.
