Car sales

Hi all

We are coming out to Adelaide towards the end of Jan, one way....

Can anyone recommend a second hand car sales lot?

Must be honest car sales, but relatively cheap, road worthy cars.

You here so many dodgy car sales stories, and to be honest, I can't be dealing with the Del boy type bull s**t from these guys..:biglaugh:

So many to choose from. Remember, cars here don't rust out like they do in the UK, so body work issues can usually be detected easily. As for the mechanics, depends on the car. Like age, price and make. Don't worry about it until you get here.

Are you being met at the airport? If not, I offer you my free pick up service to take you to your temporary accommodation and also to actually buy that first car.

Good luck with your flight etc.

That's very kind of you, but. We have friends picking us up..

I will bear that in mind about the cars not rusting, that's such a good thing..

No MOT here so you really have to be careful!!!

Looks for a service history and in particular regular oil changes.

If you need a car inspecting have a word with Mick from M D Autos.

A pre purchase inspection could save you a few quid.

Mick moved out here several years ago from the UK, built a great business and reputation.

Honest as the day is long.

Now and again he has a car for sale.

He recently serviced my car - thorough!!!

Here he is......http://www.mdautocare.net.au/

We got an old banger (a '98 Mazda 121) from Marion Road Car Sales - and we got it for a great price. Had absolutely no problems with it at all (we've had it for 7 months now). The guy who sold it to us said we could either have 6 months free warranty on it or a couple of hundred dollars off the price - he suggested we do the latter as he had just had the car serviced before putting it out and assured us it was in great condition and we would have no problems. Silly us opted to get the insurance, we should have listened to him and opted for a price reduction. The car is a little goer. Good luck!

The guy who services our cars for us said the two makes of cars he would buy if he was getting one for himself would be Hyundai and Subaru...We've got a Scooby and so far - touch wood - no probs, unlike the Ford Territory we had beforehand! Actually saw our old Territory at some traffic lights the other day and was pretty amazed that it was still on the road - and we had it from new so it's still only 9 years old!

Not sure of a good place to buy from but we have recently bought a new car. We got it from the mitsubishi dealership on north east road (it was a ford escape someone had part ex'd against a new mitsubishi, not super cheap but well priced and we were pleased with the service).

Also, we still have our previous car which we have just put up for sale. We were going to keep it as a car for the family to use when they visit, but to be honest we could use the extra cash! It is a Holden (ahem, Vauxhall!) Astra, 2003, up for $5000. Shoot us a pm if you're interested :)

It might be worthwhile keping an eye out for people selling their cars on this site. When people move back to the UK or relocate to another state they often sell a vehicles that they've only had a little while. Friends of our recently went back to Yorkshire and they sold the vehicles that they had bought when they arrived here.

You should be able to trust people on here not to sell you a lemon!:biglaugh:
