On a recent promo for the tv show "Bogan Hunters" it was stated by the host that the first indication that a suburb has a high proportion of Bogans living in it is...the number of abandoned shopping trolleys on the street!

 

Anyway, not wanting to be thought of as being a Bogan I thought that I better do something about an abandoned shopping trolley in a nearby road. It was left there by a migrant who didn't want to hire a car and pushed the shopping home from the local store

 

As it was a Coles trolley I called in the local store to ask about collection. They gave me the number 1800 876 553.

It took 3 calls but eventually the trolley was gone.

 

A much easier system (and maybe more rewarding?) for other supermarkets is the web site Trolley Tracker.

There is loads of "interesting" info on the site "one trolley for every 11 Australians" for example!

 

If you report a trolley you go into a draw for a prize of 5 x $1000 per month.

I saw a load of trollies yesterday in Elizabeth. I thought it was a bit odd, but then noticed a woman pushing one full of empty cans and bottles to the recycling depot near there. Suddenly it all made sense. I wonder if you get one entry for each trolly when there are a load lol.

Well there are plenty of rich bogans in Norwood then. I often see trolleys outside homes there. And it is certainly not a cheap place to live.
