Hi all

We move to Henley Beach in a few weeks from Melbourne and would be great to know some more information about it.

good kinders and occasional care

nearest bulk billing doctor

nearest hospital for maternity services

nearest supermarket & shopping centre

local parks

anything else that Henley Beach has to offer for a stay at home mum :)

many thanks in advance x

I don't live at Henley Beach but it is a beautiful area and I think you will love it. There are a few members here who live at Henley Beach so hopefully they will come on and "sing its praises". If you google City of Charles Sturt you will find the council website which lists a lot of community information about the general area.

We lived in Lockelys for 12 months which is fairly close to Henley, and our children went to Henley Beach Primary. I can't help you out with the first three things on your list sorry as we didn't need any of them while we were there but I can certainly help with shopping: there's a Foodland right on Henley Square, another one at West Beach and again on the corner of Tapley's Hill Road and Henley Beach Road but for most of my shopping I went either up to Foodland at Fulham Gardens or down to Woolworths at Harbour Town (a large discount(ish) retail park). There's also West Lakes shopping centre about 10/15 minutes drive up. You'll find what suits you though as getting into the City is pretty easy if you'd prefer to use the Central Market.

The library is pretty good, although it looks small it carries a good range, has activities and is part of the One Card network so can access all sorts (DVDs, books, magazines etc) from all over South Australia. There's a newly re-opened play park on Burbridge Road and a good little park on the corner as you head up to West Lakes and some great walks along the Linear Park - one of the best bits about living where we did was that we could cycle to school along the river, past the horses and see the sea all before 9am :) And of course there's always the beach...

Good luck with your move and I hope you settle quickly.
