Has anyone else received the pm below? What's Buddhism got to do with this site??? :confused: I've just deleted it assuming it's someone trying to hack-in? I don't know?

Yes, I had one too. I deleted it also. I suppose it takes alsorts eh?

We've enough on trying to get a visa without learning about Buddhism too! thats just a step to far for me, ha,ha.

Yes we received one as well. It is apain when this sort of person can get into your pesonal emails. If I want religion I know where to go to find it.

Jessie isn't a person. She is a spam bot. It is a program that joins sites like this and either posts or PMs their adverts. Its normally porn sites or religious based.

 

If you remember when you first joined the site you were asked to enter some letters as they appeared. This is a defence against most of them but some as you have seen get past this. The best thing to do is delete them and let us know. That way Tim can delete the membership along with their ip.

It would look that way because 'it' has an account just like you and me and therefore shows to be 'online'. It was probably sending PMs to everyone with less than 100 posts. This is the normal proceedure because this way it avoids moderators and admin who would do something about it.

Oh I can sleep big time. Unfortunately Joe (9 months old) can't. He declared it morning at 5.00am and so I brought him downstairs so he didn't wake everyone else up.

Different 'bots' have different programes and therefore work differently. Thats why some make it on here and others don't.:(

Unfortunately with forums this seems to be something that appears everyso often. There is a comprimise between controlling the odd spam and letting members post PM's etc. I like to keep it as open and as free as possible without putting too much conditions on users. As Pete said if you comer across such things just delete it and let me or the mods know.

 

The newer version of the software does have better control and I will update when it becomes avaialble.

Yes i had it months ago and my 10 year old just told me he had one yesterday and tried to reply with "B O G OFF!!!!!" But was told user not found!!!

Very sad!!!

yes i had one too. glad i'm not alone. come to think of it don't they do a lot of mediation? might not be a bad idea would need to speed meditate tho havent time to be sitting around doing bugger all.
