PLONK South Australian wine series: Chaser Team!

Recommended Posts

I received this in an e mail from South Australian Tourism and as they say we are the food and wine capitol of Australia:smile:

They will be covering all the different wine regions in Adelaide but it will be light hearted / satirical with the Chaser Team involved.

I don't currently subscribe to STAN but hope that the episodes get loaded onto Youtube afterwards so that we can post a link.

There is a link to the trailer.

I am delighted to present to you the trailer for Season two of PLONK, which exclusively shines the spotlight on South Australia’s wine industry. The team behind the ABC’s Chasers War of Everything were in South Australia recently filming the six-episode television series. The series has been sponsored by the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) as part of our domestic content marketing program. PLONK is a satirical wine show and takes a comedic and insightful look into the trials and tribulations that go into the making of a serious lifestyle program.

The six-episode series spans six South Australian regions, Barossa, Adelaide, McLaren Vale, Clare Valley, Limestone Coast and the Adelaide Hills, and features more than 30 different locations across South Australia. The episodes incorporate the stories of more than 90 South Australian wine makers, local personalities and local business owners who will gain significant national exposure. The South Australian wine industry has some of the most interesting stories to tell and to hear them from our unique wine personalities will leave a lasting impression.

Season 1 of PLONK, shot in NSW, reached an estimated 5 million viewers through television, online and in-flight. SATC was approached late last year, as the production crew were keen to bring Season 2 to South Australia. South Australia is the food and wine capital of Australia and it was only fitting that we bring this popular show to our State and showcase our inspiring wine stories.

The SATC has been working with PLONK’s writers to make sure the unique tourism offerings and benefits of the featured regions are incorporated into the storyline, with writers weaving winemaker’s personalities, interests and regional brand propositions cleverly into the script. We have world class wine and personalities in the regions who are irreverent and have a great sense of humour and this will make for a standout season.

PLONK is proudly supported by the South Australian Tourism Commission, Screen Australia,Wine Selectors and the South Australian Film Corporation and we expect to get greater reach than Season 1 did.

PLONK Season 2 will premiere exclusively on STAN in June 2015. The official Trailer for the series was released on The Today Show this morning and I hope you have had an opportunity to see it. For those who have not seen it yet, here it is for your viewing. Please feel free to share the trailer and we hope you will enjoy the series featuring South Australia.

Sincerely

Rod Harrex

SA are running a good promotion on TV (Brisbane) at present focusing on the food and wine regions, with a good deal to boot. 3nights accom, 4 days car hire, winery tour with lunch $385 I think, only need to find a special airfare (some at $75 recently). If we were not going to UK next month for 6 weeks we would go for it.

WOW...at that price it's worth locals having a weekend away in the different wine regions!

South Australia’s wine regions will “PLONK” into every home and TV screen in Adelaide today.

The second series of PLONK, a satirical comedy show filmed exclusively in South Australia, will screen on Channel Nine Adelaide after The Voice from tonight (July 7).

The six-part series, supported by the South Australian Tourism Commission, premiered on TV and movie streaming service STAN last month. It is now making its debut on free-to-air television.

The State Government recently announced an unprecedented $35 million over two years to promote South Australia to domestic and international markets. Therefore identifying innovative ways to promote the State’s competitive strengths is critical in driving demand and growing the visitor economy.

PLONK puts South Australia’s wine regions front and centre on television screens. It features more than 90 local winemakers, personalities and business owners, sharing entertaining anecdotes, pertinent stories and showcases the stunning landscapes that define South Australia.

The show stars Chris Taylor of The Chaser’s War on Everything, Barossa born writer/actor Joshua Tyler and creator Nathan Earl. Their style is quirky and irreverent, not unlike us South Australians.

Here is the trailer for you to view. We encourage you to watch the entire series on Channel Nine from tonight at 9pm.
