Anyone attending Anzac Day services?

Recommended Posts

That's a fairly comprehensive list - shouldn't be any reason to miss one wherever you are!

Our eldest is taking part in the All Night Vigil at Morphett Vale Eternal Flame with Guides and our son is attending the McLaren Vale one with his Scouts. We'll go with him because it's just down the road rather than fight with the thousands that are predicted for the Morphett Vale one. There is a ceremony this evening at Morphett Vale to begin the Vigil so we''ll go along to that too.

And just an aside - McLaren Vale Tourist Centre is showing the Water Diviner tomorrow evening (from 5pm, I think with the film at around 7) obviously because of the theme of the film but also I suspect because it was partly filmed down this way.

I thought the all night camp was at Morphetteville Racecourse rather than Morphette Vale????

For sure.

We do most years (I'm not going to lie, I did sleep in one year :frown:).

It's a very somber service, remembering all those who gave so much, but really unites people.

We go to the city. I think it's because when we first went, we felt a bit 'on the outside'? I like going up there though, love watching the light rising over the War Memorial.

They reckon there will be a huge amount of people there this year - someone told me they'd heard ten thousand mentioned !

If my kids had been younger, we would've considered going to Camp Gallipoli at the Racecourse. It sounded like a wonderful thing to do; combining the mateship and togetherness Australians are renowned for, but for once, I'm glad they're too old as the weather is dire .

As for the kids who keep the Vigil, well, :notworthy:. Awesome job.

Lest we forget.
