I've been following the news on its world heritage status the past couple of weeks. Its sad reading for much of it and I cannot believe how much of it has been decimated in recent years.
Anyways, it is keeping its status for now and the Aus Gov have apparently announced plans to help preserve it for the future. Not sure how much of what they have said will happen though. And given the Abbot Point port being used for coal shipping and all that comes with that for the reef and waters surrounding it, its future still doesn't look so bright to me. But I can hope The final decision on its status will be announced at the end of June.
