      This is the latest release from SA Tourism...

      Spring events to generate $50 million for SA’s economyA range of events will take place in South Australia this October and November that will inject more than $50 million into the state’s visitor economy. The events will attract more than 800,000 people including visitors from interstate and overseas and could result in as many as 20,000 additional hotel bed nights and $3.2 million more in accommodation revenue. Events to be held over the next eight weeks in Adelaide include:

      • Adelaide Festival of Architecture and Design
      • Festival of Contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art
      • ITU Duathlon World Championships
      • Adelaide Film Festival
      • Adelaide Motorsport Festival - incorporating Classic Adelaide Rally
      • Bridgestone World Solar Challenge
      • Adelaide Fashion Festival
      • CheeseFest
      • Credit Union Christmas Pageant
      • Feast Festival
      • Australian International 3-Day Event – incorporating the Equestrian Grand Final
      • Pacific School Games
      • AC/DC and KISS concerts
      • Adelaide United vs Melbourne Victory A-league
      • NAB AFL Draft
      SA leading the nation in attracting interstate visitors
      The latest National Visitor Survey results have been released showing that visits from interstate travellers are at a 10 year high. Interstate trips to South Australia are up 11 per cent for the year, climbing to more than 2 million overnight visits. The figures also show that in the 12 months to June 2015, South Australia attracted 5.62 million domestic overnight visitors – an increase of 6.3 per cent, exceeding the national growth rate of 5.2 per cent. South Australia’s visitor economy has also increased by 1.7 per cent, with business purpose trips up 11.8 per cent and holidays up by 6.8 per cent.       Our main tourism season is about to go into overdrive.
      Despite the numbers I am still amazed that we don't have packed beaches and public spaces.
      Lucky that we moved to this state I guess.
