:xmas4::xmas5::xmas3::xmas12: Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and happy holidays :xmas12::xmas3::xmas5::xmas4:

If its your first Christmas in Australia, hopefully it'll find you enjoying the warmer Christmas season weather. It can feel a little strange the first year or two (perhaps longer) to be celebrating the holiday in the heat. I remember my first year spending Christmas day morning down at Glenelg on the beach in 30C, having a swim, kids running round having a blast. It felt almost surreal. Now, a few years in it seems, while not quite normal, it does feel good and we embrace it totally. Enjoy being able to head to the beach for a dip on Christmas day if we feel like it.

Those that have been here a while now, hope you enjoy your day and any of the new traditions or things you do since arriving in Australia. Sometimes the miles from loved ones can be hard going, those that find it a bit of a struggle, hoping you have some support to help you through.

If you are beginning the migration process or migrating to Adelaide in 2016 and haven't joined the forum as yet, we look forward to hearing from you in the future perhaps :) Maybe Christmas 2016 will be your first in Adelaide  Feel free to say hello.

To all our members stay safe, enjoy and all the best for 2016 from the staff of Poms In Adelaide :)

And New Years, some great fireworks displays held along the coast and elsewhere. Often there are 9pm ones for families or people who can't stay out till midnight, then the midnight display and celebration for those that can  We took a picnic with us to Glenelg, bathers for the kids and were very happy just soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying the evening.

Some of the main ones for you

Holdfast Bay - Glenelg & Brighton - https://www.holdfast.sa.gov.au/NYE and http://www.aroundyou.com.au/whats-on/events/2015-new-years-eve-at-the-bay

Elder Park, Adelaide CBD - You could tie this in with a night at the T20 cricket cheering on the Adelaide Strikers. Great atmosphere and lovely display - http://www.adelaidecitycouncil.com/explore-the-city/current-events/christmas-in-adelaide/whats-on-this-christmas/event-details/new-years-eve-2015
