Singapore Hotel recommendation

We are going back to the UK for a holiday next year and considering a stopover in Singapore on our way back to Australia for a couple of nights. Anyone have any recommendations on where to stay?

On our stopover we stayed at the Singapore Marriott, very plush, right in the center. Situated right on top of the underground so easy to get anywhere. The problem we had was with 2 children most hotels would only cater for 2 adults and one child and wanted to charge for an extra room!

We've stayed in quite a few hotels in Singapore and they have all been really good, so I can't really recommend one in particular. The standard of accommodation over there is generally pretty high.

The main things to consider are what facilities you want (such as a swimming pool) and the location. Some hotels are a bit further out of the centre, or stuck in the financial area with not much in the way of entertainment. Orchard Road is a good area especially for shopping, and the area by the river by Clarke Quay is nice, plenty of restaurants, lovely views.

Well we are having a stopover on our way back in Feb. If you fly Singapore airlines you can book a hotel through them, they have 5 levels of hotel plus Sentosa Island. Cheapest is $70 per person, most expensive is $170 per person per night. You get vouchers for free zoo entry, free bumboat tours, free birdpark entry and amphibious boat tour, plus others. Otherwise research tells me that an awful lot of people really love the Pan Pacific.
