Need some advice... from a plumber?

We've had a lot of little things go wrong with our rental house and it is always so painful getting them fixed so if anyone has an idea why this is happening, we could possibly sort it out ourselves.

All of a sudden, the water in our shower is hot/cold/hot/cold/hot/cold... we've got a gas boiler and one of those temperature settings control panels. Yes the colder water is nice when it's 40 degrees outside but it would be nice to have a constant temperature.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hiya,

Could there be another appliance on like a washing machine when you are having a shower?

Or maybe you have a water saving shower head. If so, the gas boiler will only come on when you have the shower turned fully on. If you've only half turned it, the gas boiler won't kick in unless the flow is strong (if that makes sense). :err:

That would make perfect sense but the shower is turned on full. The way the water goes hot and cold in waves, the boiler clearly isn't heating the water continuously... I can only hope it isn't a boiler problem.

I agree with Judy. In my experience that has happened when I've connected to a water saving shower head. I don't know too much why that happens but I've found that hardware stores like Mitre 10 are usually very helpful. if it is a rental property talk to your property manager that should be something that they would know about and can organise to get repaired (not at your cost).

All you have to do is take off the shower arm and there will be a little plastic disc in side. Take it out and it will work properly. I wont bore you with why it works but its all to do with water flow rates in your water heater.

I must have had about 10 people ask me exactally the same question (im sure i told you Roo?) and taking the little disc out works every single time.
