Did anyone see the fire around Athlestone?

We saw the choppers out yesterday morning while out at the skate park but didn't realise it was so close.

 

Hope everyone is OK, and really hope someone did not set it on purpose.

We had a small one in Greenwith apparently this morning but thankfully i never saw anything.

These guys who set things off on purpose want locking up, it must be bloody heartbreaking to see your home trun into burning embers right in front of your eyes..

I think it started in the early hours of this morning - Ian saw all the smoke and choppers when we went off on his bike early: they were scooping up water from Thorndon Park Lake apparently to drop on it. No houses destroyed and all under control by the time I dragged myself out of bed thank goodness! It wasn't far from the kids' school. If it was deliberately set then they should do something real nasty to the culprit if they ever catch him/her... mind you, Blackhill Park is apparently top of the list for UFO sightings in Adelaide so could have been something otherworldly...

The cfs.current_incidents page is updated every 5 minutes or so and is really useful to judge the fire situation on any given day.

 

Remember to have your radio tuned to abc when you're going bush on catastrophic fire risk days.

good link mate, i keep checking that regular at the moment, specially when the boys go working in the hills!
