yep your right but is is split over 6 months paid fortnightly about $380, it is called the baby bonus, there is also a maternity immunisation allowance which when your child hits 2 and his/her immunisations are up to date you get a $122 (about that) payment and again at 4. It is supposed to encourage people to have their little ones immunised. I assume you have to be on PR and elligible for family assistance but could be wrong on this, we got it but are PR.
