Foraging for food in the hedgerows

Ok so I am in UK

Just been out picking wid garlic leaves from the lane, also noticed that we are going to have a bumper crop of winberries (bilberries) in the woods behind our house. I also pick blackberries in the autumn.

I wondered if people do this in SA and if so what wild leaves/berries do you pick?

In the park near me are lemons, mandarins, limes, pears, walnuts, macadamia nuts, pistachio nuts, figs, olives and mulberries (ok, parts of the park used to be market gardens so perhaps some are left over from then!) and there are also loads of mushrooms coming up at the moment but I'm too chicken to pick and eat them!

Oh we also have blackberries but they are considered a pest so sometimes the council kills them!

Shouldn't think you can pick them from the park though!

Blackberry bushes are pesky sometimes I think they are deliberately wrapping themselves round my legs to trip me up!!

I don't pick mushrooms either as I do not know enough to be confident they won't make me ill!
