Are they expensive in oz, would it be better to buy them here in the uk and bring them with us? They seem relatively cheap on ebay here and alot are machine washable. Presumably it would be quite safe to do this as australia is 240V?

They probably are more expensive here-most things are, so bringing some will be cheaper. You WILL need them in winter here, especially if you end up living in the Hills- it can get very chilly at night up there.

Having said that electrical items are probably one of the few things that are not too different price wise- places like "Good Guys" have some very good deals on electricals.

 

Bear in mind though if you do bring them over they will have different plugs- you will need to either change the plugs over or get an adaptor. A good move would be to bring a 4 plug extension lead over from the UK as they have a fuse in, and change the plug on that. That way you can use it for a few different bedside things, (alarm clock etc) and only have to change one plug. Be careful not to overload it though.

The voltage here is the same but plugs dont have fuses in so the extension lead option is good as it gives you an extra level of protection.

 

Dont forget to bring some spare fuses!
