SBS Programme about migrants

If anyone didn't see the SBS programme last night - first of three on consecutive nights I think - it is an interesting experiment on the subject of migrants: both legal and illegal (but not skilled migrants - more refugees and asylum seekers)

It's called Go Back to Where You Came From - be aware the Australians on there tend to have extreme views - but watch with an open mind 8;30pm tonight.

Just glad my daughter had already done her English exam and written an essay on "What it means to be an Australian" before she watched last night's programme - or it might have had a different slant! Couple of 'Australians' on there that make you cringe!!

The programme is very interesting, and very cleverly put together. You can see how some of their views are changing, and beginning to understand what asylum seekers and refugees go through.

Others though are still stubbornly sticking to their opinions despite all what they have seen. Perhaps they should leave the young aussie girl in one of those refugee camps and bring back a refugee in her place. Someone who is much more deserving of a place in australia than she is.

When asked at the refugee camp what does she do all day she said 'nothing', when asked what does she do to earn money she said 'nothing'. She didn't even know who or what 'Allah' is and why Muslims pray to Allah.
