I'm surprised that you haven't heard of Yorkshire Day before, as it has been going for many a year now.

There's more info on it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yorkshire_Day

Ah, the ceromony has never been held in Sheffield.

Plus 'A 1991 Times editorial read: Today is Yorkshire Day. Not many people know that, as a very non-Yorkshire person likes to say, and probably not many Yorkshiremen either know or care. It is almost as artificial as Father's Day, which, as all thrifty northerners know, was created to sell more greetings cards'

Well, hope you guys enjoyed Yorkshire Day

Are you having a laugh? Just because you are ignorant to the fact that Yorkshire Day exist doesn't mean that it is a cinical way of selling greetings cards.

See just a few events that I found taking place on the day that "Yorkshiremen either know or care":

Belated Greetings from a Pontefract-ian! I must admit, I have never heard of it either. But then again I have never even been to the Yorkshire Dales so I don't think I should be calling myself a Yorkshire(wo)man any more. Shameful eh?
