I've made a cock-up with my computer this morning and I can't work out how to retrieve the missing files.
I had a folder full of photos on a memory stick, which was in the machine. I wanted to transfer the folder to "my documents" and then onto a different memory stick so as to post the second stick to my mother in Oz.
I deleted the folder by accident but I couldn't find it in the Recycle Bin. Why not?
I've had the little microsoft dog running around for about an hour but the dog can't find the missing folder either. I told it to look in the hidden files and folders as well as everywhere else but there doesn't seem to be any sign of it.
They are family photos of my mother's house and my father's grave, both in the UK. They are of huge sentimental value to all of us but to Mum in particular. She'll be 91 in a couple of weeks so I wanted to send her the photos in time for her birthday.
Surely a folder full of photos can't just vanish in a Windows computer?
I'm stuck because I don't know how to find this folder again and I didn't take the photos. A friend took them for me and he downloaded them straight onto the first memory stick. I stupidly didn't copy them onto the C-Drive as well.
I'd be enormously grateful for some idiot-proof instructions, please!!!! (Must be idiot-proof because I'm now on the outer limit of what I understand about these ruddy contraptions.)
Many thanks indeed.
