Dog Hair

Hello All

 

We have just moved and it seems that the previous owners may have had a dog (or cat)

 

Im wheezing like a er wheezing person.

 

Does anyone either know any good pills or a good way of getting from house. House is carpeted and wood floors

Agree with Steveliane reguarding the landlord... if you are allergic to dogs or cats this problem will not go away... we had to be very careful with renting as one of our children is highly allergic to cats.

I think all carpets need to be steam cleaned by the preivious tenants or the landlord... this may help but best would be to avoid any house that has had pets in... not always easy I know.

Ive contacted them but they dont give a $hit. not there problem they say. TV anteana is also not working so no tv. They think 9 (nine) days without a tv is acceptable!!!!

If you are, get onto the tenancy tribunal their number is 131 882, they will tell you what to do and how to do it.

The Landlords have a legal obligation to provide a house in a clean and reasonable state, give tenants reasonable peace, COMFORT and privacy, and perform any maintenance quickly.

 

The house is obviously not clean and you can't live in comfort if your wheezing all the time, and have no tv.

 

We have spoken to the tribunal about various different problems and they have always been very helpful.

Usually houses have to be professionally cleaned by the previous tenants (professional steam cleaning of carpet) and it would state in your contract you have to do the same (and provide proof of receipt so they can see its been done properly). Hopefully, if you need to take legal action this will be required and if its not been done, the landlord should then sort it.

 

If you know you are allergic to dog or cat hair perhaps go see a Doctor to get an inhaler to help with the wheezing. If you've never had a problem before, perhaps its a viral infection that has become asthmatic and will clear up with a short course of treatment. This can happen easy enough in adults and children.

 

You could try an over the counter anti histamine like Piriton (not sure of the Aussie equivalent)

However, if you are actually wheezing, tablets like that may not help a jot. Tends to work more on the other allergy side effects like itchy eyes and skin.

 

Is there any other thing that could have caused it? Are you suffering any other symptoms? Hayfever like? Itcy eyes, runny nose?
