UK O Levels?

Can anyone tell me what the equivalent is here?

the UK qualification taken at the end of yr 11/5th form at age 16 is now GCSEs

 

In australia, they don't do a qualification at that age, just the end of school exams at the end of yr 12 (can't remember what the exam is called though)

My daughter tells me it's SACE Level 1 - if you've done that you can leave at the end of Year 11 aged 16/17 or thereabouts (or you can leave at the end of Year 10 if you're going onto an apprenticeship or something like that) SACE Level 2 is what they do in Year 12 (or 13) for university entrance (equivalent of UK A Levels)

To gain her SACE (South Australian Cert of ED) our daughter has finished her GCSEs in UK in June this year but has gone back into year 11 here as her results count towards her SACE as she has started half way through the school year but she has to complete yr 11 & 12 to enable her to go to Uni
