To all those saying cars are expensive in oz, as a comparison, take the new focus base model. It's £13,995 in the UK, and $19,990 in oz (dealer list prices). So using the old usual 2.2 exchange rate it's a bargain, and using todays 1.48 rate it's about $700 under priced.
Used cars are more expensive here, but surely that's a good thing. If I bought the Focus and came to sell it in 3 years, in the UK I would have lost between 50-60% of it's value. In Australia, probably about 20%. Buy a used car in the UK and after 3 years, you've pretty much lost most of your money, whilst here you can sell it for a little less than you paid for it.
