I did not know exactly where the tradition came from, but received this today and thought I would pop it on here. Has anyone ever proposed today girls, or is going to? - would love to hear stories about it ... being the romantic that I am!

February 29 - it only happens once in every four years, and so does apparently the tradition of women proposing to men!

The tradition of women proposing to men on February 29 is believed to have started in 5th century Ireland when St Bridget complained to St Patrick about women having to wait for so long for a man to propose. St Patrick said women could propose on this one day in the leap year. In 1288, Scotland passed a law that allowed women to propose marriage to the man of their choice in that year. Any man who declined a proposal in a leap year had to pay a fine, ranging from a kiss to payment for a silk dress or a pair of gloves.

So over to you guys, thought we needed something light-hearted and thought-provoking. Also, it's the Olympics this year too - can't wait!

Cheers for now

Sas
