Hi guys

Welcoming our first visitors from the UK in a couple of weeks, one of them being my 18 yr old son - who returned to UK after 10weeks here as couldnt settle, so cant wait to see them, esp him, as been over a year.

Anyways, we are having a bbq for them and friends we have met in Oz since arriving and i need meat for about 40..sausages, burgers, chicken...any one got any recommendations of a decent butcher, price and quality that i could get this from.

Thanking all you knowledgeable people in advance.

If you can get to Central Market, I'd try there - there are a couple of specialist chicken places, plus some really good butchers and you will find prices a lot better than in supermarkets or in high street butchers. It's open late (till about 9pm) on Fridays and you can park right over the top of the market very cheaply

Nah, you're obviously shopping at the wrong butchers.... or perhaps they just charge me less coz I flutter my eyelashes at them! Always found the quality is excellent and the prices even better in the market - but I do go there quite a lot and know the ones to go to...

I make my own patties. Cheaper that way. A kilo of mince meat, a kilo of sausage meat (you can buy this at the butchers), 1 big onion cut up finely (I know there will be a lot of drama) then add moroccan spice about two table spoons however you may add or reduce the amount of spice according to taste. No need to add salt or pepper, the sausage meat is salty enough.Mix well then shape into patties. How easy is that?

But if you are after good meat go to the Steak Shoppe in Beach Road, Christies Beach. Or Springfield Butchers, in Colonnades Shopping Centre.

Hi, is your son going to be staying here with you now. I have a 14 yr old son, 17 yr old and 19yr old daughters. They love Australia but are struggling to meet people, is this how your son felt before he went back to uk.
