Got a panicked phone call on my way to work this morning from my daughter who went into the lounge and was greeted by this. Am so proud of her as she managed to catch it in one of my husband's very large beer glasses, contain it with a postcard and take it out into the park! In her words "the postcard only just fit across the top and its leg touched me"

 

Usually our two cats seem to keep the spider population controlled, but it looks like this one was bigger than either of my cats! (Sorry for the slightly blurry pic - I think my daughter's hand may have been shaking slightly when she took it)

She caught it in a beer glass?! That was brave, I don't quite know what I would have done with a spider that big.

 

I think I might just pack my suitcase and quietly leave now.

These spiders are pretty harmless and migrate indoors from time to time. leave them alone and they will stay up high.
