when you believe SA has a booming economy why has SA lost its tripple A rating? Moreover, why are young South Aussies - also British origins - leaving this state? I know many old people where their children couldn't secure a proper job and most of them moved interstate now. So many retirees living here have their working children living somewhere else. You might feel it booming because you're coming from a part of your origin country where economy really was bad. But that is not an convincing argument that things are really better here. I know 'the grass is always greener on the other side'. I also was such a believer. My hubby found work immediately and had a good salary. In our 2nd year he lost his 2nd job and it is hard at the moment to find something else because we experience a harsh recession here in Adelaide. Also many companies replace staff every few months because they can make cherry picking and believe me they do! I'm fine because my job is related to the Aged Care sector, but one of us is always job hunting. It's not easier or better here than in Europe, here is not Utopia where milk & honey flows. That' only a fairytale to believe Australia is better. WA keeps this country alive with its mining sector and in the same way many, many tourists keep Sydney alive for instance. I have relatives in Sydney, one lost her job last year (found another one after 8 months!), the other one is on reduced part-time and that is reality here. You'll never hear this on the news, because Aussie politicans like to whitewash even the worst events.
Everyone has his/her right of own opinion but that Adelaide is easy to secure a job can only be said by newcomers (like we did!) or by shortage occupations like motor mechanics, diesel mechanics, nurses, doctors. These people could find work immediately no matter how worse the economic situation is.
