Good Aussie meal out

Coming to the end off our reccie don't really want to cg home.

 

Want to go for an authentic Aussie meal before we o home or an authentic place. Done the fasta pasta and the mexicans etc just wanted something different before we go home x

Windy point, although not exactly 'Aussie' food would be a beautiful place to go while you are on holidays. Pricey, but they have the cafe too which is nice.

 

Red ochre is good for more 'Aussie' food.

(before anyone shouts - I LOVE oz and think its the bees knees. Not sure I've found culinary perfection that I would call 'Aussie' yet though - proper aussie fare means an outdoor fire, damper and a steak or stew to me....spent too long outback methinks....)

You have to go to the pub and have a schnitzel with sauce or parmi to be a true aussie.

You could try Outback Jack's in North Adelaide!

 

No, seriously, go up to Norton Summit to the hotel up there, have their kangaroo steak or duck pie - absolutely delicious! Great views over the twinking lights of the city too

 

Or go to Cafe de Vilis on South Road for a pie floater with chips and gravy

Not Aussie as such, but we had a lovely evening in Hortas restaurant overlooking Port Noarlunga beach & Jetty. Nice to watch the sunset and think of what may be in the future..

We second Hortas in Noarlunga. Consistently good food and changing menu in a beautiful setting.

If you don't mind going a smidgen further south, try Deep Blue Cafe in Moana. The food is great and the location is pretty fab as well.

My votes would be for Scenic Hotel at Norton Summit, Windy Point Cafe (both great views) but most of all, Red Ochre overlooking the river and the city. Beautiful food with an Australian twist - highly recommend.

Checked menu for Hortas not for me. Decided on windy point but as you probably noticed the weather today not the best day to see a great view, so had wok in a box in Glenelg better luck tomorrow x

I head up there every time it looks like there may be a lightning storm! I have yet to actually be there for one though :-(
