Responsible Service of Alcohol

A certificate that certifies you are able to pull a pint. Wow. Dunno about anyone else but I find the Australian fixation on meaningless certificates a bit pathetic. There's even one that covers filling shelves in a shop.

What I didn't realise is that even someone under the age of 18 can serve alchol with the RSA Certificate.

The RSA course really has nothing to do with training you how to pull a pint!

The focus of the RSA course is to ensure knowledge of the effects of alcohol, the laws covering its service and your responsibilities ie when you can be fined personally for serving alcohol to minors or people already intoxicated.

I thought it would be way easier than it actually was (my son took it with me watching) but, and it might be one of the few, I thought it was a good way to make people realise that serving alcohol carries its own responsibilities and potential fines!

I wouldn't like to comment on whether all courses are useful but I think they are often simply a way of making sure everyone has received the same basic training particularly in relation to any legislation.

 LC
